In many Western cultures, black cats were traditionally seen as bad luck omens. It is said that crossing paths with one could bring a person bad luck. However, it seemed that Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick did not get the memo. At the Atlanta Motor Speedway, he was racing in the #4 car, when something unexpected happened.

During a green flag run, a black cat bolted across the track right in front of his car. Fortunately, the plucky feline survived the dash across the track with all nine lives intact. The commentators also made sure to talk about the notoriety of black cats. However, Harvick pretty much ignored all that and made his own luck. Although he did not win the race, he eventually stormed to his maiden Cup Series title.

How has Kevin Harvick performed since then?
Since his one and only championship, Harvick has been incredibly consistent, but failed to clinch another. However, he finished as the runner up in the very next season, and rarely strayed away from the Top 8. Sadly, the recently concluded 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, snapped that streak.

Poor old Harvick got eliminated in the opening round itself. Also joining him were Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick. When the season concluded, Kevin Harvick was classified in the 15th place, which must have been disappointing. It would be his 3rd worst performance in his entire Cup Series career.

His worst ever finish was 21st, which came in the 2002 season when he raced for Richard Childress Racing. However, this was definitely his worst finish in Stewart-Haas Racing machinery. Hopefully, the 2023 season will be kinder to the veteran NASCAR Cup Series driver. Maybe he could cross paths with more black cats to try and get more luck on his side. One thing is for sure, Harvick will work harder than ever to grab his second Cup title.
