Can Kyle Busch really pull off a Cinderella story, or is Harvick just being overly optimistic?

In the new format of NASCAR, it’s all about making it into the playoffs. Drivers can do so by either collecting enough points over the season or the more preferred way, which is by winning races. Surprisingly, among all the drivers this season to win a race, Kyle Busch isn’t one of them. This has the NASCAR world talking about whether the two-time Cup Series champion will make it to the playoffs.

While many doubt that Busch has a shot at the championship, Kevin Harvick believes that anything can happen to him. Although he has had one of the most difficult seasons this year, Harvick believes that there is a miracle in order that will make Busch win at Darlington. As of now, Busch is 106 points behind the drop-off, which puts him in a position to win the race if he wants to race in the playoffs.

Kevin Harvick’s stance on Kyle Busch making it into the playoffs

On Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, the host expressed his thoughts about Kyle Busch in the latest episode. The team spoke about how Richard Childress Racing driver is having a tough season, and for the first time in 18 years, it seems like he might not make it to the top 16.

Kevin Harvick spoke about Busch, saying, “He had a miserable season up until we had the break.” Busch’s performance after the break has been much better, as Harvick explained, “Now he’s feeling pretty jazzy about his cars, and I think, as you look at those cars and what he’s done at Michigan, Daytona, and wherever else we race, Richmond.”

Knowing that Busch has it in him to perform despite a tough season, Harvick has a feeling that he might just clinch the win at Darlington. To explain his thoughts. Harvick mentioned, “I think he’s [Kyle Busch] a type of Cinderella story that can make a run in the playoffs.”

Reflecting on Busch’s recent races, Harvick explained how he has this sudden momentum that other drivers don’t have. Saying, “The only noise they’re going to make is the noise that they make into the playoffs,” Harvick explained what makes Busch stand apart. Unlike the rest of the drivers, Busch has the potential to enter the playoffs in the last race and compete for the championship.

Putting his faith in Kyle Busch, Harvick mentioned, “It’s Kyle Busch of going down the back turns. Unless something happens, he’s probably going to win this.” This came from his performance at the Daytona race, where Busch had everything going right for him, except the last lap. Let’s take a look at what went wrong for Busch in the last lap of the Coke Zero Sugar 400.

Harrison Burton steals Kyle Busch’s win at Daytona

During the second last race before the playoffs, Kyle Busch seemed to have broken out of his shell as he was leading the race on the last lap. However, when Harrison Burton pulled up door-to-door with him, Busch knew that the No. 21 Ford was faster than him.

Ultimately, Burton took the lead into the finish line with a gap of just 0.047 seconds. After the race, Busch was asked about what he was thinking while getting passed by Burton. and that’s when he spilled the beans, saying that the only way he could have won the race was by wrecking the Wood Brothers Racing driver.

Luckily, Busch is a driver with a strong code, as he decided to let Burton win fair and square, something that the 23-year-old driver’s mother appreciates as per her statements on X. Following the race, the legendary Jeff Burton’s wife, Kim, made a statement saying, “I appreciate Kyle saying his only chance was turning someone right rear at Daytona would be a bad deal, and that he had the morals not to do that even with playoffs is huge for Kyle’s race morals.”

With that said, do you think that Kyle Busch’s moral driving will help him achieve a win at Darlington? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
