For a 12-year-old to achieve proficiency and a calm demeanor on tracks is a remarkable feat indeed. However, to actualize potential at its best is equally important to make sure that they receive the right boost. Keelan Harvick, son of NASCAR veteran Kevin Harvick is all set to hit the tracks and he is proving his worth even in the preparatory stage. Given that his father is a three-time Cup Series champion, there are no two ways that Keelan would be getting all the input from him.
However, as Harvick prepares Keelan for the world of late models, he cannot help but present his regret for something that acts as a great deterrent.

Keelan is just a few years away from being a full-time NASCAR driver
It is not new for drivers to pass on their legacy to their sons and Kevin Harvick seems to be just on the right track. This year is going to be quite eventful for Keelan given he will be taking up his piloting duties with the Pro Late Models. He will be driving cars that are specially curated with a collaboration between Kevin Harvick Inc. and Rackley W.A.R. However, when you have someone like Kevin Harvick guiding you through the entire process, then why would you need to worry?
Stock cars are dependent on a few good qualities that will either make or break the car. However, despite trying his level best, he had made a mistake. Speaking of the same, Harvick said, “The biggest problem he had was us. We should have just let him go out there and not tell him what to do. I don’t think we all expected him to do as well as he did. He was very aware of his surroundings, communication, and the things he did with the car.”
He further added, “I couldn’t have been more pleased with the first outing”. Just like any other parent, even Kevin Harvick and his wife DeLana had their fair share of doubts about the little boy. However, his grip on the tracks has proven to be worth commending.

Keelan’s journey from go-karting in the U.S. and Europe to dominating the Legends platform has been remarkable. With Kevin’s guidance shaping his development, Keelan quickly set himself apart with numerous victories by 2022. In 2024, he solidified his place as a rising star, racking up 27 wins in 49 starts. He has also accounted for a total of top-three finishes in prestigious events like the Cook Out Summer Shootout and INEX Winter Nationals. His standout performances earned him the 2024 INEX Young Lions Asphalt National Championship. This marked him as a future NASCAR contender.

Even Keelan himself is quite aware of the kind of strides his father has put in him that has aced his career. Speaking of the same, Keelan said, “[My dad] is really big on being smooth and trying to be consistent. That’s really helped me through my career. I would love to win a lot, but this is brand new competition, and it’s going to be really hard to adapt. If I can consistently get top-five or top-10 finishes, that would be a really good takeaway for me”. With Kevin Harvick’s unparalleled expertise and Keelan’s growing talent, the father-son duo is setting a new benchmark for legacy-building in motorsports.
