Next weekend, the NASCAR paddock heads to Daytona for the Daytona 500. In the buildup to the race, Stewart Haas Racing and Kevin Harvick unveiled the cars heading to the race. Interestingly, Harvick and SHR are fielding just one car for the race weekend, which could be worrying.

This is most likely related to the concerns surrounding the spare parts of the new cars. Considering that the Next Gen cars and their parts are all store-bought, many teams have to be careful about dinging up their cars too much. Of course, another explanation could be that the spare car could be in the trailer.

Hopefully, for everyone, there won’t be a need for a spare car. Obviously, they are very expensive, and it will be a massive headache for teams to try to repair the cars amid the existing shortage. So, it makes sense that the drivers will be on tenterhooks for a while until they get used to the new car.

Kevin Harvick is not the only one bringing one car

It is also worth mentioning that Harvick’s crew is not the only one doing this tactic. Apparently, this extends to the rest of the Stewart Haas Racing team, and its affiliates. To be exact, the likes of Chase Briscoe and both Rick Ware Racing teams are bringing just one car to Daytona.

This is because the Stewart Haas Racing team built all of the cars for the Clash at the Coliseum and the Daytona 500. Of course, while they are trying to take it easy on the machinery, they are still obligated to put on a good show. Kevin Harvick already has one Daytona 500 win under his belt and would push hard for a second one. However, he will have to contend with several of his rivals, who will be just as eager to add a Daytona 500 win to their resume.
