Driving a Cup Series car remains the dream for every rookie driver in the competitive arena of NASCAR. And that dream starts with a ride in the Truck Series. But not everyone is as fortunate as Carson Hocevar. One needs to spend several years at the Xfinity before they can finally sign a full-time Cup Series deal. Hence, for Josh Williams, who is currently racing for DGM Racing, landing a spot in Matt Kaulig’s Xfinity program was monumental.

For Josh Williams, who amassed 441 points and is 21st in the season’s standings, perhaps the new spot aids him in getting one step closer to his Cup Series dream. Needless to say, he is enthusiastic. For Williams, Kaulig Racing is more like a home than a team. On that note, Williams demonstrated how things worked out for him at Kaulig Racing and what makes this team perfect for him.

Team president Chris Rice had announced earlier in an obscure revelation that there could be an announcement regarding the #11 Xfinity car soon. The wait was finally over when Josh Williams was announced to pilot the #11 “Alloy Employer Services” Chevrolet in 2024. Can we say there are high hopes, as the Port Charlotte native has been driving in the national series since the age of 16?

Josh Williams comes with an experience of 186 starts that he has made in the Xfinity Series, with 3 top-10 finishes in 2023 alone, showcasing great lengths about his driving prowess. But this expertise did not come easy. According to the Speedway Digest, Chris Rice once exclaimed, “Josh Williams has fought tooth and nail for everything in his racing career, and we’re really excited to have him race for us.”

For Williams, it took consistency to be where he is today. In an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, the 30-year-old speedster said, “I always started having just a small conversation last year, just trying to see where we needed to be and the best way to go about it. Made sure that we were a fit for partners as well. Kaulig’s got a great program going on a lot of cool things, really great people so we felt like I’d be a good fit over there”

“Just kept the conversation alive, put things together on our side that we needed to do to make this all possible and we finally got it finalized a couple months ago and got everything ready,” he added.

Williams admitted that it has always been a dream for him to win races and run up front on the big stage. Although he hasn’t been able to punch the ticket to the victory lane yet, he is super excited to go trophy hunting. But what more would Kaulig Racing give Josh Williams that DGM couldn’t?

Perhaps a Cup Series ride in the future. Williams cannot just ignore the fact that, unlike his old team, Kaulig Racing has a Cup Series program as well. Williams said, “They’ve got a Cup program that’s run up front and that’s been successful…There’s a place to move forward and progress in my career and I’m looking forward to that opportunity.”

When AJ Allmendinger ended his full-time Cup Series season at Matt Kaulig’s team, the news that he wouldn’t be back in 2024 for a Cup ride worried his fans. Will they not see “The Dinger” cast his road course magic on NASCAR’s 2024 schedule? The good news is, yes, they will.

But not in the Cup Series. It has been heavily rumored that Allmendinger will drive the #16 Xfinity car for Kaulig Racing in 2024. And if that happens, AJ Allmendinger and Josh Williams would be teammates. For Williams, AJ Allmendinger has always been an idol. Hence, he was happy when Allmendinger followed him on Twitter. He lost no time, took a screenshot, and posted it on X.

Even the fans envied Williams for getting a follow from the man himself. After all, many seemed to have been blocked by Allmendinger.

Someone wrote, “Easy. I defended him and got blocked. Soft”

While another vented, “I’m still trying to get unblocked 😮‍💨 #DingerFanStill”

Why would Allmendinger block so many people but choose to follow Williams? A fan left the comments section with a series of pertinent questions. Needless to say, they were funny: “So now here is the million $ question. What is he to you? Or what are you to him? Long lost cousin? Brother from another mother? Uncle josh? (My uncle had a mullet so I think it would fit). We have to figure this out.”
