NASCAR racing can sometimes be cruel or unforgiving. It’s as if the drivers put themselves in the firing line every week while trying to churn out good results. Unfortunately, not every time everything goes according to plan, and there are disappointments for the teams and drivers along the way. Something both Kyle Busch and Hailie Deegan are experiencing in their ongoing 2024 NASCAR season.

Where Kyle Busch’s inability to perform or get a winning result is seen as Richard Childress Racing’s failure to provide the driver with a race-winning car, in Deegan’s case, it’s different. The fans, on the contrary, seem to question her talent and skill without knowing the reason behind her troubles in competing in her rookie Xfinity season. This contrast in the opinion of the fans towards Hailie Deegan wasn’t appreciated by Kenny Wallace so much that he lashed out at the online trolls and viewers in a recent video via his YouTube channel.

In 2023, Deegan joined ThorSport Racing, which had won the 2021 championship with Ben Rhodes. In 2024, she signed with a team that helped Brett Moffitt achieve nine top-10s in 2023, offering her the best opportunity yet to prove herself. No doubt, Deegan has struggled, currently sitting 28th in Xfinity Series points, the worst among full-time drivers, trailing behind Aric Almirola, Ryan Truex, and Kyle Weatherman, all of whom have at least five fewer starts this season.

When we talk about the 39-year-old Rowdy Busch, he made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at the tender age of just 16. But his performance for a veteran? There has been an evident decline since last year. So far this season, Busch hasn’t managed to win a single race, and his struggles are becoming increasingly apparent. Remarkably, out of his 20+ season career, there have only been five seasons where he didn’t secure a win in the first 11 races, most of which occurred early in his career. Unfortunately, it looks like this year is shaping up to be one of those tough seasons for Busch.

The former NASCAR driver on Kenny Conversation interacts with prominent personalities and keeps the fans updated about his previous shows. Little did he know that promoting Hailie Deegan’s interview would result in an outburst of negative comments.

Fuming with the fans online, Kenny Wallace stated in a recent video, “While I’m waiting for dinner, I just get on my phone and I scroll through the comment section. You men, y’all are pieces of sh*t. Here’s a lady out there in a man’s world racing … Man, oh man, people are quick to point out that she’s not good. I’m like man, y’all are making yourself look bad; you’re sitting there on the couch.”

Wallace even questioned why Kyle Busch’s recent woes are credited to his RCR team, but as far as Deegan is concerned, how she is a problem? He opined, “Who knows, maybe she’s in a junky car. Look at Kyle Busch right now. Imagine if Kyle Busch was in a car like he is right now his whole career … So there’s two cars that are struggling, so maybe just maybe Hailie Deegan, maybe she’s not in a very good car. But regardless, when people are struggling, the last thing you want to do is tell them they’re no good.”

While we can let Deegan settle through her first full-time season in NASCAR as learns the tricks of the trade, Kyle Busch is staring at the possibility of not making it into the playoffs for the first time in the elimination era of NASCAR racing, and as a matter of fact, it is Rowdy who is under immense pressure to deliver the result to save his and RCR’s sinking ship.

With only two top-5 and five top-10 finishes in 17 races, Rowdy Busch finds himself in a tough spot to make the playoffs. He’s now gone 38 races without a win and could be missing out on scoring a win in a regular season for the first time since 2004. With only nine races left, the pressure is mounting on Busch, who will have to aim for a win in the next nine attempts.

There are hardly any positives for the #8 team to build on, apart from early runs in the season it has been a downhill ride for both the driver and the team. The only way Busch can win a race in the regular season is by posting up some consistent top 5 and top 10 runs. And who knows? He just might find that one big result he is looking for. Or he seriously needs to focus on collecting points, just like Martin Truex Jr, Ross Chastain, and Alex Bowman have been doing so far.

Well, if everything does go south for Rowdy this season, he might as well be planning an exit from RCR as say rumors. With his contract ending with RCR in 2025, Kyle Busch would love to go back to JGR or HMS, as he suggested. Not to mention Rowdy didn’t end on good terms with them as well.

In the tough 2024 NASCAR season, where Kyle Busch struggles with a winless streak Hailie Deegan faces criticism despite potential team issues. Veterans like Kenny Wallace will always come and defend them. However, this time Wallace has highlighted the disparity in fan reactions, and now both drivers face mounting pressure to turn their seasons around.
