Being a racecar driver is an expensive affair, not only from the team standpoint but for the drivers as well, as Kenny Wallace aptly put forth with his massive $150,000 revelation. Behind the high-octane NASCAR world lies a plethora of staggering expenses like traveling, loans, and employee compensation that could burn a hole in the driver’s pocket.

Despite sponsors’ ability to cushion the blow, the relentless pursuit of race requires a handsome amount of financial strength. Nevertheless, Wallace has come up with a series of expenditures less talked about, which asks for a huge payout and has left the racing fans awestruck.

Being a former NASCAR driver, Wallace is well-versed in all the intricate details of every aspect of stock car racing. Be it the team’s expenses, their sponsorships, or even their other income streams for that matter. But one of the driver’s expenses is less talked about and it is quite exorbitant.

Speaking of the huge expenses that a driver incurs, a fan put forth a question on X and tagged NASCAR and Kenny Wallace and asked, “What if a new driver is hurt, no insurance, is he screwed?”

Replying about the direct correlation between a racecar driver’s expenses and the skyrocketing insurance premiums, Wallace replied to the fan’s query and disclosed the lesser-known expenses that a driver incurs and wrote, “To drive the race car in @NASCAR. I had Disability Insurance and workman’s comp. Plus my normal family health insurance and auto insurance and golf cart insurance (Required by the race tracks). There were times I spent as much as $150 THOUSAND a year or more on racing Insurance. The more expenses a driver has. (Bus-Plane-Loans-employees etc.) The more insurance he or she will need. ITS REAL LIFE.

Apart from general insurance like family, and health, a NASCAR driver needs to have auto insurance as well owing to the high odds of getting into a fatal accident and getting severely hurt. The more severe the accident the more the cost of treatment, so buying auto insurance is a no-brainer for motorsports drivers.
