In a series of destructive Californian wildfires, greater Los Angeles has landed up into the trouble of a lifetime. The fires are just getting more powerful with every passing hour and as of now, there is an official announcement that 11 people have lost their lives. Although the accurate death count has not been disclosed, the videos that have surfaced online are harrowing.
In spite of the condition currently, California officials are not able to curb the fire, thanks to the kind of safety mechanisms at hand. NASCAR insider Kenny Wallace has got his take on the situation and surely it makes sense!

It is the powerful Santa Ana winds that have contributed to this fire. In fact, there has been an advisory from the government so that the residents evacuate and the number has risen to more than thousands. In such a situation, the question remains why are people being asked to evacuate when the fire should be put down immediately? There have been statements that the water system in the area was not equipped enough to handle this particular extent of fire.
Given the geographical position of the area and the closeness to the sea, Kenny Wallace has brought forth an important observation. Speaking of the same he said, “What’s amazing is, as these homes burn, the reporter says, “There’s no water to put them out.” No water? While the homes are literally sitting on the ocean? That’s the part I can’t wrap my head around”. He further added, “They said you can’t use saltwater to put out the fires because it would damage the Earth or corrode their machinery. What? Use the saltwater to put the fires out. You’re telling me you’d rather watch entire neighborhoods burn down than figure out a way to pump the ocean water to stop it?”.
The inability of the government to put down the fire has been massively criticised and it has received global attention from all the countries. In fact, the situation is getting worse as residents are consistently finding their things stolen after they return to their homes. The firefighters immersed in the emergency have retorted how the systems are not working up to the mark. One of them said, “We’ve lost most of the hydrant pressure” while another said, “Got dry hydrants”.
His remarks underscore the frustration many feel as homes are reduced to ashes while resources appear untapped. Wallace pointedly criticized the reasoning behind not using salt water, citing concerns over environmental damage and equipment corrosion as insufficient justifications given the magnitude of the crisis.

NASCAR veteran Gordon shares heartfelt message after wildfire devastation
Trending
It seems as though the magnanimity of the Californian wildfire has not only attracted the vision of Kenny Wallace. NASCAR community veteran Jeff Gordon has also spoken up and shared a message to the thousands who are currently fighting hard with the fiery flames. Given how the fire has already destroyed acres of land and made thousands of people homeless, the State intervention hasn’t been as required.
On behalf of the Hendrick Motorsports team, Gordon posted, “As we are all far too familiar right now, wildfires are devastating communities across Southern California. Families have lost their homes. Lives have been lost. First responders are risking their lives. And so many people are enduring unimaginable hardship. I want to thank everyone who’s working tirelessly to control this unthinkable event. From the firefighters on the front lines to the countless volunteers opening their hearts and their homes to those in need. If you are able, please consider donating or volunteering to support wildfire recovery efforts. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in helping to rebuild these communities”.
