One can rarely find Kenny Wallace without a pleasing smile on his face. The former racer is known for his cheerful persona as much as he is for his racing skills and professional career. That is precisely why even after eight years since his retirement from full-time racing, fans continue to keep him relevant and loved within the sport. Though Wallace can now be seen occasionally behind a race car, he appears more frequently on his YouTube shows alongside some of the biggest names in NASCAR.
Through one such series that he has dubbed “Coffee with Kenny”, he sparked a debate in the online community recently. It wasn’t something controversial about the racing promotion as one might fear, but rather about his choice of a coffee creamer.

In a recent post on his YouTube channel, Kenny Wallace gave fans a little tour of his morning coffee routine. Giving viewers a glimpse of his go-to choices he said, “That’s the coffee that I use medium roast and you want to know about my creamer? That’s my creamer, Hazelnut.” Within a few hours of his post, fans began crowding his handle with concerns over his choice of creamer. One of the comments that came and Wallace liked was, “Tip of the day use filtered water on your coffee and do not use powder creamer not good for you body has a hard time digesting it”.
The one that Wallace had shown in the video was a hazelnut-flavoured creamer from Nestle. In the words that came in a subsequent video, he explained to fans that the creamer wasn’t his, “Showed this morning that I use this very sh***y creamer. [It] can cause heart attacks. Very bad oils, especially, if you Google it (…)”
According to katiecouric.com, Coffee mate is filled with partially hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, refined sugars and other harmful preservatives that are hugely detrimental to heart health. The site also cites a report by the Mayo Clinic to back its claims.
Thankfully, Wallace cleared the air that he wasn’t using the creamer but was instead inclined towards non-dairy almond creamer that keeps him healthy. Going further, he also asked fans to post pictures of the creamers that they thought were not detrimental to one’s health. However, this is not the first time Wallace has had a tryst with the product.

Despite Kenny Wallace’s clarification that he doesn’t use the hazelnut creamer, there’s no denying that he once was an avid fan of the product. A tweet from him back in 2015 displays a picture of him checking out of a store with the same Coffee mate creamer. The post reads, “After I cashed my change in I bought some @Maxwell_House coffee and Hazelnut creamer and I am HAPPY”.

However, in 2019, the icon chose to get rid of his addiction to it. A tweet that displayed his resolve came back then and read, “Today is my first day of drinking plain coffee with no creamer or sugar. I’m trying to lower my cholesterol and get rid of sugar. Wish me luck…”. As it appears, the support of fans has finally led him to get rid of his love for the supposedly harmful product.
