Back in 2019, AJ Allmendinger joined Kaulig Racing as a part-time Xfinity Series driver. But as the seasons progressed, so did the team’s faith in their driver, and now they are brimming with confidence in their 42-year-old star, following which they took a massive step and have risked a whopping $16 million on him.
Charlotte Roval, the track where the sounds of Allmendinger’s 2023 Cup Series victory over William Byron still echo, is the road course where he clinched his first title after a whopping 50 starts since Indy Road Course in 2021. The track now holds a special place in Allmendinger’s heart. Outpouring with confidence and in a bid to give the fans some preseason adrenaline rush, Kaulig Racing put forth a ridiculous challenge for the community on X and wrote, “Are you taking on The Allmendinger Roval Challenge?…YES or NO.”
Anyone capable enough to outperform AJ Allmendinger in a 10-lap race at Charlotte Roval would receive a whopping $16 million prize money and 18 holes of golf with the #16 Chevrolet driver. But being a road course prodigy, defeating him would be no joke, and losing the race is highly probable. To make the taste of defeat even more bitter, Kaulig Racing concocted an absurd punishment for the loser and unveiled that they’d have to get their least favorite driver’s signature on them. Quiet weird, right?

However, to make things a bit fair, Kaulig Racing sighed relief as they unveiled that Allmendinger would start one lap down, in the monsoon conditions resembling the 2020 Xfinity Series at Roval, whereas the rivals, will start in sunny weather at a comfortable 75 degrees temperature.

The public issue of the challenge gained a lot of traction as 1919 fans out of 2231 accepted the deal, making the acceptance rate go to a whopping 86%. But with huge stakes on the line, the fans couldn’t resist giving their mixed bag of opinions.
Kaulig Racing’s bizarre revelation left fans divided
It’s not an extraordinary thing for NASCAR teams to put up challenges for the fans now and then. But what’s extraordinary here is the huge $16 million sum, which is around 4x Allmendinger’s yearly payout.
One fan expressed his desire to participate and simultaneously took a jibe at NASCAR’s exhausting 36-race schedule and commented, “Challenge accepted but instead of the eighteen holes of golf can I get an eighteen race schedule? 👀”
The revelation even caught Pro Late Model racer Jay Nelson’s eye, and he accepted the challenge as he wrote, “Give me the car and I’ll challenge him I’ll even do Mid Ohio 🤔”

One fan smartly declined the challenge by giving away the name of his least favorite driver and commented, “No. There is no way I’m getting [Denny] Hamlin’s signature tattooed on my body.”
This fan looked nowhere else but the prize money and expressed his acceptance to race and wrote, “I’ll take it 😤🫣”
“F**k yeah I would,” added another fan, as he had his eyes on the prize.
