It’s been quite a year for Kaden Honeycutt. The 21-year-old racing driver recently secured a full-time Truck Series seat with Niece Motorsports and ended the year on a high with a victory at the Snowball Derby. While the Texan was always considered a promising driver, lifting the prestigious Tom Dawson Trophy at Five Flags Speedway has put him on the map, raising the expectations from the youngster going into 2025.
With the upcoming Truck Series campaign being a breakthrough opportunity for Honeycutt, will the driver rise to the occasion or wilt under the pressure? Time will tell. However, judging by his performance at the biggest Super Late Model event of the year, it’s likely that the driver will be just fine.

Few drivers in the stock car racing world are as exciting as Kaden Honeycutt. At just 21 years old, the racer has already made a name for himself in the motorsports community, showcasing his immense talent consistently on the track. He won a couple of ARCA West races last year, while his part-time stint at Niece Motorsports driver has been quite impressive. Out of 14 Truck Series starts the youngster has secured two top-five results at Kansas Speedway as well as six top-ten finishes, highlighting that he is more than ready for a full-time role.
However, NASCAR YouTuber Eric Estepp believes Kaden Honeycutt could surpass expectations next year. He said, “Watching Honeycutt at Five Flags Speedway today has me believing he could be a deep playoff threat.”
Estepp went on to say, “The only Niece driver not named Hocevar, not named Chastain, that in my opinion has consistently jumped out the past couple of years has been Kaden Honeycutt on that part-time schedule. I’m not ready to predict Championship 4, I just think he’s going to take a 12th-place truck and run fifth with it more times than not next season.”
It’s fair to say that expectations are at an all-time high from Honeycutt. Why would they not be? The youngster drove with maturity beyond his years at Five Flags Speedway, outclassing two-time Snowball Derby winner Ty Majeski while holding off Stephen Nasse in the closing stages. It was the first time the 21-year-old secured a victory in a Super Late Model, showcasing not just his versatility across multiple motorsports disciplines but his ability to push the limits to achieve success on the racetrack.
Starting the race alongside Majeski, his more experienced and successful rival did not intimidate Kaden Honeycutt. Throughout the 300-lap race, both drivers exchanged bump-and-runs to take the lead, with the youngster going wheel-to-wheel on the short track. In a sport as cutthroat as NASCAR, having that fighting spirit will serve the Texan well during his full-time Truck Series stint in 2025.
It remains to be seen if he lives up to expectations in his first full season with Niece Motorsports.

From dirt late model wins to two appearances in Victory Lane with the ARCA Menards Series West, it seems like Kaden Honeycutt has been through it all. However, no triumph has been as significant in his young racing career as his Snowball Derby victory. Even though it has been three years since the racer competed in the crown jewel event, the way he handled himself at Five Flags Speedway made it seem like no time had passed. His four previous attempts at lifting the Tom Dawson trophy have yielded mixed results, but his performance this year highlighted just how far he has progressed as a racing driver.

Sharing his thoughts after winning the Snowball Derby, Kaden Honeycutt said, “It‘s definitely unbelievable. I grew up walking [at Five Flags]. This is literally where I took my first steps. There‘s a lot of history here for my family here. I knew I could do it, and I knew [my team] could do it. This was a matter of putting the pieces together. We worked our a**es off, and it paid off.”
The youngster went on to say, “That‘s what all these races are about, making it there, staying up front all day, and giving yourself a chance.”
Self-belief goes a long way in securing wins on the racetrack, and Kaden Honeycutt seems to have it in spades. Knowing that attention to detail was key, the Texan formed a partnership with Jett Motorsports for his ride, and having Snowball Derby champion Derek Thorn as his teammate just boosted his confidence.
