With Daniel Suarez’s contract with the Trackhouse Racing to end soon, everyone was pretty much on the edge. After a winless streak of 57-races, his future with the team seemed to be dwindling. However, the Atlanta victory came at a pivotal moment for him. Now, everyone, including the Trackhouse boss Justin Marks, knows that he is a “guy who can get it done”. Marks, dedicated to providing Suarez with all the resources he needs, believes him wholly when he says he’s ‘gonna win 15 races this year’.
The Atlanta race this past Sunday carved its place in history, marked by uncertainty on every lap. From heart-stopping three-wide racing for the lead to daring blocks and close-quarters racing, it was a spectacle to behold. And of course, the dramatic finale between the victor, Daniel Suárez, and his closest competitors, Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch is one for the history books. With a margin of victory at 0.003 seconds, it ranks as the third-closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history.

This win has got The Trackhouse Racing team co-owner with Pitbull, Justin Marks, ‘bullish’ on #99 this year. Talking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio after the race, he said, “He’s in a very focused and driven headspace right now. And he’s just got it in his head that he’s going to win 15 races this year.”
“I mean, he’s, he is just really, really motivated and, um, uh, we put a lot of work into that #99 team during this off season really to just do, ‘what do you need, Daniel? What do you need from us? You know, how can we, how can we give you all the tools necessary so you can win all the races that you’re telling us you can win’.”
“And, you know, he was, he was like intensely focused in that press conference. And it was, it was kind of interesting to watch. I’m bullish on the #99 team this year right now“.

Justin Mark, who had once put his trust in Daniel in the 2021 season, despite his setbacks at Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing, once again preached confidence in him. He brushed aside all the rumors regarding Daniel being on the ‘hot seat’. He further commended the sportsmanship and relentless attitude of Daniel Suarez, saying, “he’s one of those guys where, you know, he’s like, ‘that was great. Great job for everybody. Thank you, Justin. Thank you, sponsors. That was an amazing night. But we have a race in seven days. And so we got to go to work’.”

Daniel Suarez conveyed to team owner Justin Marks that Sunday wouldn’t mark their final encounter in victory lane. “This is just the beginning,” he asserted. Winning his second career Cup race in his 253rd start, such confidence might appear audacious. But that’s just Daniel Suarez’s usual demeanor; he consistently projects confidence in his ability to race against and outperform NASCAR’s elite. And this victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday might prove to be just the push Suarez needed.
“Some people actually told me earlier, ‘And now you can relax, you’re in the playoffs?‘” Suarez said, as per FOX Sports. “Hell no! My goal is not to win one race. I want to head to the playoffs with at least a few wins to be able to contend for a championship. This is not relaxing here. This is only the beginning. We have to continue to work, continue to build.“

It is clear that despite achieving this historical win, there is no time for Suarez to rest. He remains unsatisfied, aiming not just for participation in the playoffs, but for multiple victories to contend for the championship.
