Back in early October, former NASCAR driver Justin Marks established a brand new NASCAR Cup Series team called Team Trackhouse. Recently, he spoke to SiriusXM Radio about the decision to set up the team. As it turns out, the imminent arrival of the Next Gen car was the primary impetus to give the team its 2021 debut.
Marks said, “I spent most of my career in the sports car world. The way GT racing operates is very similar to the way this Next Gen car is going to operate. You invest in your processes and you invest in your people.
“As long as we’re in a sport where OEMs and very wealthy owners can throw 10s of millions of dollars at spindle programs, and aerodynamicist departments, and things like that. Its just not interesting. And I think NASCAR realized that.”

He declared that such a situation is not particularly interesting. This is why he is glad that the sport acknowledged that and placed a model to try and fix it. The creme de la creme will, obviously, still rise to the top. However, the window of opportunity will open up for the new kids on the block.

Marks is keen to see his team hit the ground running in the NASCAR Next Gen era
The team is set to field Daniel Suarez in the #99 Chevrolet, in partnership with Richard Childress Racing. In the very first season itself, Marks insisted that their target will be the 2021 Cup Series playoffs. On the subject of Suarez, he declared that he wants the Mexican driver to be there for the long run.

Marks knows that Suarez possesses plenty of passion and will be committed to their cause. Throughout his NASCAR career, Suarez has notched up 32 Top 10s and two pole positions. Without a doubt, he is a hugely talented driver with untapped potential. This is why Justin Marks believes that Team Trackhouse can be the ones to bring out the best in the driver.
