Jeff Burton and Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s duo on commentary has entertained NASCAR for a long period of time. However, their prodigies had a tense moment on the track. At the recent Xfinity Series race at Charlotte, the two drivers came together towards the end of the race. Both of their races were ruined as a result and it was Jeff Burton’s prodigy who came out and took responsibility for his actions.

The Xfinity race at Charlotte was an elimination race. Four drivers were eliminated from the playoffs, including one of the two involved in the crash. The second-tier NASCAR competition will enter the round of 8 next weekend. The first race of the round will take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

With just eight laps to go, the Charlotte race restarted with JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier and Jeb Burton fighting for the lead. Allgaier’s boss is Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeb is the nephew of Jeff Burton. Both drivers were fighting to qualify for the next round of the playoffs. But only one managed to do it.

At the restart, Jeb Burton and Justin Allgaier were fighting for the lead of the race. The JR Motorsports driver would have made it through to the next round by points. But for Burton, a win was crucial. It was no wonder that he was pushing for the lead of the race.

However, things did not go according to plan. The Jordan Anderson Racing driver locked up his tyres going into turn 1 and collected Justin Allgaier along the way. Both cars ended up in the barriers and were forced to retire. It was Jeb Burton’s mistake that cost them the race and he was the one getting eliminated from the playoffs as a result.

The 31-year-old cut an apologetic figure after the race, admitting to his mistake and expressing concern for the driver he wrecked.

“Yeah, it was totally my fault. I just got in there harder than I had all day and just locked them up and was wrecking and the 7 car was just a victim of my mistake. Hate it for Justin and his team. I respect all those guys and it was a total accident. I was wrecking if he was there or not,” Jeb Burton said.

“I mean it was…hard impact for me. I know it was a hard impact for Justin so I hope he’s okay. I heard he’s okay so I’ll definitely be reaching out to him. Have a lot of respect for him and his race team. Hate that,” the Jordan Anderson Racing star added.

Justin Allgaier was understandably disappointed after the race. The JR Motorsports star was in a race-winning position before he was taken out. Anyone in his situation would be frustrated and the 37-year-old did not hide his.

In a post-race interview with Frontstretch, Justin Allgaier rued the “stupidity” that ultimately cost him the race. It would have been a perfect end to the round of 12 for the veteran racer. The momentum and confidence could have made a world of difference in the round of 8.

“I think the frustrating part is just the stupidity of it. You know I don’t, I haven’t seen the replay yet. Obviously don’t know what happened but…just really really frustrating to have as good a car as we had and to be up there in the hunt all day,” the JR Motorsports star said.
