Earlier, the JR Motorsports team announced a brand new partnership for the upcoming race weekend. To be precise, they have linked up with 1st Bank of Alabama for the Xfinity Series race at Talladega.

Naturally, this meant the unveiling of a brand new paint scheme for Sam Mayer’s #1 car. Safe to say, team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr was quite proud of the paint job and staunchly defended it from critics.

Apparently, one fan was of the opinion that it was a poor livery and that it was ‘just plain ugly’.

Earnhardt Jr was however having none of it as he simply clapped back with this response, “Since you called it a livery I can’t take this criticism seriously“.

Mayer will be in action this weekend at Talladega with this car and a new paint job. Interestingly, the 19-year-old has yet to take his first visit to Victory Lane in the Xfinity Arena. Yet, he has established himself as a front-running driver, with a handful of runner-up finishes.

The car did not look too bad. It is dark blue and white with a gray stripe running on the side of the car. Aside from that solitary dissenter, there were plenty of people who were fond of the livery. In fact, they were hoping that with this livery, Mayer would finally break his win jinx.

After all, with the ‘1st’ logo on his car, some things could just be written in the stars.

On the other end of the scale, Mayer and team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr know that winning will not be easy. There are several strong contenders in the Xfinity Series arena and they will be just as eager to triumph. So, Sam Mayer will have to work extra hard and avoid getting caught up in any shenanigans.
