One of NASCAR’s most well-known former drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr, recently took to his social media to share an old onboard camera footage from his race back in 2002 at the infamous Talladega Superspeedway. Taking a peek into the past, fans felt nostalgic in remembrance of the racing that took place in the good old days.

Junior tweeted, “2002 EA Sports 500 #8 Budweiser Onboard Camera”
It immediately transported fans back to the golden days of racing and relinquished the memories of the past. During this very race, Junior had his third consecutive race win secured, making him the first to win the EA Sports 500 and the Aaron’s 499. The last time someone achieved this feat was his father, the late Dale Earnhardt Sr, back in the 1999 season.
However, that wasn’t the only highlight of the race. They showed Mark Martin the black flag after his steering box got locked, which led him to crash into Jimmie Johnson‘s car during the warm-up lap of the race. Further, the race was also not a great day for Hendrick Motorsports, who lost several of their cars due to issues.
The races at Talladega often feature a major crash, which has often led to the waving of the caution flag. However, on this occasion, the race shockingly saw completion without the caution flag ever dropping. It would mark this as one of the last incident-free races to take place before the 2012 race at Auto Club Speedway.
Fans take a trip down memory lane thanks to Dale Earnhardt Jr
The onboard footage shared by Junior made fans remember the good old days of racing. One fan gave Earnhardt Jr the moniker, ‘Redneck Jesus’. Others reminisced about the past and wished that it could all come back again. Several others spoke about how great the cars were back then and how they did not lose RPM while taking the corners.
Fans stated,
