Michael Annett, JR Motorsports, and primary sponsor Pilot Flying J have a special tribute in store for NASCAR Hall of Famer inductee Dale Earnhardt Jr. Annett and his team will run a throwback paint scheme for the Xfinity Series race at Darlington Raceway next month. They came up with the paint scheme to pay tribute to the scheme in which Dale Earnhardt Jr. won an enthralling NASCAR Busch Series race at Daytona International Speedway in 2002.
JR Motorsports announced the same on Thursday. Annett will race in the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro that will, for that day, run the Oreo Cookie paint scheme that Earnhardt Jr. ran in 2002. Earnhardt Jr’s original scheme back in the day was the No. 3 car in an association between Richard Childress Racing and Dale Earnhardt Inc.

The 2002 race at Daytona saw Earnhardt Jr. narrowly edge Michael Waltrip in an exciting finish in the Xfinity Series series opener. That was his first win at the iconic course in the No. 3 car.
Drivers and their teams often pay tribute to other drivers for their accomplishments, through special schemes.
JR Motorsports was able to get the original sponsor Oreo associated with the tribute scheme. This will make the nostalgia even sweeter for fans and others alike.
“Someone spilled the milk early, but here is an official look at @MichaelAnnett’s @Oreo @PilotFlyingJ throwback for @TooToughToTame, honoring @DaleJr ‘s selection into the @NASCARHall,” said the tweet from JR Motorsports, announcing the development.
