Josh Berry stands out as a true gentleman of the track, known for his fair play and sportsmanship. While he’s mostly made a name for himself in Late Model Racing, Kevin Harvick hanging up his racing gloves has opened the door for Berry to step up as a full-time driver in the Cup Series. But he is not resting on his laurels.

Just recently, Stewart-Haas Racing shared a video where Berry opened up about his journey. He pointed out that it was his experience in short-track racing that paved the way to the pinnacle of his career.

Josh Berry recently shared some insights into his racing career, highlighting that a mix of good fortune and determined hard work carved his path to the Xfinity and Cup Series.

Reflecting on his rise through the ranks, Berry emphasized the importance of perseverance. He said, “When I think about my journey to the Cup series throughout my career, the word that really kind of comes to mind for me is just being relentless. […] I think that over those years, it would have been really easy to get frustrated about not having certain opportunities or maybe getting looked over.”

He continued, “But you know, what I try to remember is to obviously, first of all, I really enjoyed what I was doing, and I loved racing short tracks. I loved racing. And I really learned to build my building my race cars, working with my team, and going to all these different short tracks right here and that.”

For Berry, the secret sauce was a never-say-die attitude, always pushing forward regardless of the hurdles. This philosophy has served him well. Now, as he embarks on his journey as a full-time Cup driver, especially with a new crew chief by his side, 2024 promises to be an exciting chapter to watch unfold in Josh Berry’s racing story.

Eddie D’Hondt, a seasoned veteran in the Cup Series, is gearing up to be Josh Berry’s guiding light from the garage for the 2023 season. The duo isn’t new to each other; they’ve already synced up during Berry’s stint filling in for Chase Elliott in five races, owing to his injury.

D’Hondt’s leap to Berry’s side at Stewart-Haas Racing is a big deal, especially given his track record. He has spent 12 seasons as a spotter at Hendrick Motorsports, where he played a crucial role in the team’s triumphs alongside racing heavyweights like Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. D’Hondt has been a key part of Rick Hendrick’s winning streak in the last decade.
