It was way back in 1998 when the first-ever version of the Thanksgiving Classic saw its inception. Since Philip Morris won the inaugural event an array of seasoned NASCAR drivers like Scott Riggs and Denny Hamlin have lifted the Cup at the famous Late Model stock car race.

The 23XI Racing owner has won this event in 2003 and 2007. However, Josh Berry has the chance to surpass Denny Hamlin in the number of wins at this coveted event. Berry has already emerged victorious in the last two years, and this year he looks forward to winning his third consecutive title and the prize money of $50,000.

The racing unfurls on Friday with the Bandoleros, followed by the Chargers, the Legends, and the Any Car classes. On day two, i.e., Saturday, these four divisions will be joined by Mini Stocks, Southern Lightning Modifieds, and Street Stocks. However, the main event is expected to happen on Sunday, November 26th. The day will start with a 75-lap Limited Late Model feature and end with a 20-lap race for the Southern Ground Pounders.

Preece will be rocking the #62 Ford at Five Flags Speedway in his second appearance in the Snowball Derby, a late-model crown jewel event. Needless to say, he is excited to win it despite being an outsider.

According to NBC Sports, he said, “The Snowball Derby is a prestigious race for all those full fender guys, and me coming from the Northeast and open wheels, I almost feel like the outlaw. That guy who is not from the series, and I’m going to come in and try to take their trophy.”

Driving for someone like Kevin Harvick is perhaps a dream for many. On that note, Preece said, “Driving for Kevin Harvick and KHI, and representing Morton Buildings, it would mean a lot to me to bring the Tom Dawson trophy back to North Carolina and maybe back to Connecticut one day.”
