NHRA Funny Car legend, John Force, had to be taken to the hospital following a horrifying crash during the first round of eliminations at the Virginia Motorsports Park. According to a report by NHRA, John Force’s Funny Car suffered an engine malfunction which led to a huge explosion. The entire body of the drag race car was reduced to pieces and it rammed into the guard walls before coming to a halt.

Fortunately, Force was able to exit the car timely and was able to connect with the emergency response team, who quickly came to his aid. He was then shifted to an ambulance for further treatment at a nearby hospital. NASCAR fans were left concerned after witnessing the bone-chilling footage of the crash that could have been fatal.

Former NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, who is now a well-known name in the drag racing community, reacted to the crash. “We’re keeping our pal John Force in our thoughts and prayers. He’s one tough cookie,” he said via his team tsrnitro’s official Instagram handle.

Force’s teammate, Austin Prock, was also optimistic that the legendary driver would be back behind the wheel very soon. Moreover, he finished the job that Force was aiming for and won the Funny Car division event. “It’s just tough to see somebody go through that, especially when it’s somebody you really care about, but I know he’ll be back. We’re race car drivers and we have to flip the switch. I know John wanted us to be out here, going rounds, and I’m glad we did our job.” Prock was quoted via ESPN.

As soon as the news broke about John’s terrifying crash, the NASCAR community and fans were hoping for the driver’s well-being and quick recovery.

This was by far the most fatal crash in the recent history of NHRA racing. It was almost a miracle for fans to see John survive the wreck, despite hitting either side of the walls, leaving his race car in pieces. “My goodness… 🫣 Glad to hear John Force is out and alert after this monster shunt”.

Motorsports fans are accustomed to wrecks and accidents every week. But even for those who have thick skin, the video of John’s car being tossed around like nothing is sure to send chills. And that’s exactly what happened to most of them who saw the clip online, “What a violent wreck. Hoping John Force is okay. 🙏”.

Former NASCAR driver, Kenny Wallace also reacted to the crash. Taking to his X account, he wrote, “I am thinking of my hero @JohnForce_FC❤️Praying he is okay🏁”.

John Force is one of the most decorated race car drivers in the history of the NHRA. In his storied career, the 75-year-old has won 16 NHRA Funny Car championships, which includes 157 victories. His age certainly has not restricted his pursuit of his passion for drag racing. Apart from all the accolades and trophies, he has amassed a loyal fan following who were praying for his good health and recovery after the scary crash. “Prayers for the GOAT!”.

While this accident has scared the community, everyone is praying for him to get better and is sure that he will come back stronger. “Unbelievable crash. What happens when nitro methane goes BOOM while going 300mph. John Force is my hero and know he’ll be fine”.
