The Watkins Glen race was a wreck fest through and through. Starting from lap 1 to the final stages of the race, there were crashes that made drivers lose hope in the race. Ryan Blaney got out in the first lap itself, and some survived till the end. Joey Logano bumped into Brad Keselowski during the race as he sounded frustrated on the radio about the conditions of the track.
Due to the new compound, there was a lot of tire graining, leading to debris on the track. These started to add up on the track, and as Joey Logano mentioned during the race, felt like marbles under the tires. The tire debris became the reason that Joey Logano ended up colliding with Brad Keselowski’s car, and here is what the Team Penske driver had to say about it.

It was a disastrous run for playoff drivers, and many cars were involved in crashes. In the aftermath of the crashes, some drivers raced in damaged cars with chunks of their bumpers missing. In the incident involving Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, and William Byron, all of the drivers, continued to race, but that does not mean that there were no damages.
Sure, Joey Logano finished fifteenth, but due to the collisions that he caused, Keselowski’s No. 6 Ford finished 26th, and William Bryon suffered a worse fate of crossing the line 34th. After the race, Logano stepped up to take responsibility for the way he drove.
The No. 22 Ford driver, who is still leading the playoff picture, spoke about the incident to say, “I mean, really, I’m making excuses but, you know, I probably needed to check out more. But the track’s a complete disaster. They need to clean it up.”
Although it has been reported that it was Joey Logano who caused the crash, the driver claimed otherwise when he said, “And I got pushed, you know? I think I was maybe four wide at one point. They said there were three underneath me, so I tried to give room there, and I got up in the marbles.”

The marbles were the debris from the tires that were forming lumps, making the tracks riskier to drive at. Considering the risks, Logano explained, “When I went to turn back to the left, it’s like I’ve got crappy tires, and I got into them. So, I mean, it’s still on me, right? But at the same time, clean the damn track!”

Joey Logano made it extremely clear that he could feel the effects of the tire debris adding up. He pointed it out several times on the radio but by the time NASCAR got to it, the damages were done. After the race, the No. 22 driver voiced his frustrations, saying, “I brought it up at least two to three times about cleaning the track before the restarts, but it just didn’t happen.”
Having cars go 4 wide on a track like The Glen is a recipe for disaster; luckily, despite the damages, none of the three drivers involved had to retire. It was to the pits for William Byron, and that made him lose many positions, so although he did finish the race, he failed to score points in the last stage of the race.

Brad Keselowski is in a risky position after the Watkins Glen race. He is on the bubble, and standing at P14 means that he is left with one chance of redemption. The collisions with Joey Logano did play a role in his disappointing finish, but ultimately, NASCAR did not penalize the No. 22. Still during the stages, Keselowski scored 11 points, which gives him hope for Bristol.
