The battle to the checkered flag in the NASCAR Cup Series race stretched until the very end between Joey Logano and Kyle Busch. And as they were fighting for the win, one couldn’t help but be reminded of the famous feud both of the drivers had a few years ago.

But the only possibility it might’ve happened would’ve been if they’d made contact, which they didn’t.

As for why they didn’t, well, they are pretty talented drivers. But also, another big factor in the equation, is the respect they have for each other, something which Joey Logano recently opened up about in an interview.

“We have all but one time,” Logano said about his history of racing dirty with Kyle Busch. “But outside of that, we’ve never really had a bunch of controversy around us. I can’t say we like each other. But we seem to have respect for each other’s abilities, and the way we race.”

“We both race each other hard, we’re not scared to bump each other a little bit, we rub doors a little, there’s gonna be a little contact there, but nothing that’s probably outside the line. And I think because of that we run each other hard, we don’t give each other slack,” he continued.

“But we race each other fairly clean.”
