While some may have expected chaos and mayhem at last Sunday’s Cook Out 400, what they got was a comparatively tame green flag racing. The race featured an unusual lack of cautions, with only one caution not caused by a stage break—a spin by Daniel Suárez with ten laps to go. What made the race even more memorable was the rise of a new winner as Chris Buescher claimed the checkered flag for a well-deserved victory for RFK. The remarkable aspect was that the last-place car finished just five laps down. This marked the closest entire field finish in Cup Series history. The significance of this achievement was heightened by the fact that Richmond Raceway is only a 0.75-mile short track, making the accomplishment even more impressive.

Following the race at Richmond Raceway, fans were in for a treat as a new episode of The Dale Jr. Download, hit the airwaves. With his legendary expertise, Hall of Famer, Dale Jr delved into a comprehensive analysis of the team’s performances.

At Virginia, Joe Gibbs Racing showcased a commendable performance and the veteran driver was all praise for the JGR drivers. He praised Gibbs Racing’s overall display, singling out Denny Hamlin’s impressive speed and Ty Gibbs’ occasional bursts of quickness.

Given the high tire wear, pit stops every 40-odd laps were imperative. Truex Jr’s ability to conserve tires enabled him to succeed with a single-stop strategy, unlike others who fell multiple laps behind. Dale Jr lauded Martin Truex Jr‘s unique strategy, which made it challenging to compare his pace to the rest of the field.

Regarding Gibbs Racing as a whole, Dale Jr emphasized that Gibbs Racing’s Richmond outing did not raise any red flags, highlighting the absence of evident issues or causes for concern. “As for Gibbs, I don’t believe Richmond is a cause for concern. It doesn’t seem like there’s a problem or something” Junior added.

How have they toppled Penske?” Junior remarked.
