The much-awaited NASCAR All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway will kick off on Sunday. The race returned to this iconic racetrack last season and is now back for a second consecutive season, with Kyle Larson entering as the defending champion. Before the main event, the atmosphere was charged with excitement thanks to the pit crew competition. The Joe Gibbs Racing crew for Christopher Bell’s No. 20 Toyota showcased their incredible skills and won the NASCAR All-Star Pit Crew Challenge.

While the team recorded the fastest legal pit stop, earning a $100,000 prize, the win also granted a major advantage. The Bell team will get the first choice of pit stall for Sunday night’s NASCAR All-Star Race main event. But did you know they almost didn’t make it?

Christopher Bell did mention that he faced challenges to get his pit stop right. He said,So I am happy that I was able to stop at my mark. That’s been a huge topic of conversation in our meetings. Just making sure you get to the sign deep enough and the tires locked up, so they can get on the lug while you are stopping and obviously taking off the jackdrop”

Moreover, Denny Hamlin’s crew almost beat them, but it all turned out to be favorable to the JGR team, and they won in the end. Derrell Edwards said, “Yes, the 11 has been great all year. We practice with each other every day so we know what those guys got. They know we got but ahh we know it’s going to come down to Joe Gibbs crew which is special to say. You know what I mean good man. Back-to-back baby!”

Michael Hicks, who is the rear tire changer for the #20 team, credited his crew and the driver for the win and even called his driver Bell a “stud”—we wonder if Bell is going to get a new nickname! He said, “I am blessed to be with a good group of guys, I couldn’t do this if I didn’t have this supporting cast, those guys are the best on the pit road and we got a stud for a driver.”

He said, “What can you say? It’s two in a row for these guys and it’s been awesome. I’m incredibly happy for them and honored to be their driver.”

While the team was ecstatically celebrating this iconic win, the fans didn’t shy away and poured comments for the team all over social media.

He said, Maybe I’m tripping but I feel like I’ve seen Bell have problems on pit road more than others. The fact that he won might be confusing to some. But as they say–sometimes the hare wins the race, so maybe Bell practiced plenty, so he overcame his issues. The results are the result of his efforts, after all.

But some weren’t so ecstatic about the win and didn’t understand how a 13-second win is fast since teams do it faster in normal races. A user said, “Aren’t there teams posting way faster in races? How is a 13 fast?”
