Two of the Joe Gibbs Racing drivers have locked the front row at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The race which was supposed to be conducted on Sunday was postponed to Monday due to unavoidable weather conditions. This is not the first time in recent weeks we have seen a race get affected due to turbulent weather.
In the past few races, the weather has played a major role in deciding the results. Looking at the weather conditions, JGR’s star driver and pole-sitter Christopher Bell expressed his concern over the race track while also taking a jab at NASCAR for the new regulations.

Christopher Bell concerned about New Hampshire’s weather
Christopher Bell has consistently performed well at NHMS. The driver won the race here last year and managed to score pole position this year. Looking at his record, there is a high chance that he might win the race.
However, due to prevailing weather conditions, the track won’t be exactly the same. As we’ve seen in the past few races, weather can play a huge part in the result. The same goes for NHMS.
Bell, who hasn’t been able to perform his best in the last two races, would be looking to get a win. However, he is concerned about the weather conditions. In a pre-race interview, he said, “I was very surprised how hard were the cars to drive in practice and even in qualifying. Everyone was slipping and sliding around. I think it’s gonna be a different race than what we saw last year—With the downforce change and the tire change.”
Bell is right on point here. Due to the weather and the race for the playoff berths, the number of on-track incidents will soar up. Moreover, in another recent media interaction, he even threw a jab at NASCAR for the changes to Next Gen cars being introduced by them.

Bell Throws a Jab at NASCAR’s Next-Gen Changes
The two teammates Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin have been very vocal about their criticism over the changes to Next Gen cars being brought in by NASCAR. The New Splitter design will result in creating better downforce for cars in traffic. It will also help in reducing the negative effects of dirty air on cars.
Bell also made a statement, saying, “Everything we do to these race cars is somewhat of a band-aid for one problem and that’s the horsepower problem. I’ve been pushing for more horsepower ever since I got in the series in 2020.”
Bell and Hamlin have openly requested more horsepower in the cars. However, this latest directive rules out a change in the engine. Instead, it focuses on the aerodynamics of the cars. According to the two Joe Gibbs Racing drivers, these are temporary solutions and the only way to improve the cars is through increasing the horsepower cap.

In conclusion, it will be interesting to see how Bell’s performs in turbulent weather. The pole-sitter has shown his mettle in the previous seasons and with the overcast conditions could Bell convert his Pole into a victory? We will see soon enough.
