While Ty Gibbs, in the fourth car, came close and finished the regular season in 17th place, it’s not just their Cup drivers who shine. Joe Gibbs’ team also leads the owner championship in the Xfinity Series.

Both Sammy Smith and John Hunter Nemechek are in the top 10. Nemechek, in particular, has been exceptional for JGR, boasting an impressive 6 wins, and his recent victory at Kansas marked a significant milestone for Toyota in the Xfinity series—their 200th win as a manufacturer.

Recently, Bob Pockrass shared a noteworthy milestone for Toyota in the Xfinity series, marking their 200th win as a manufacturer. Kyle Busch, a prominent figure in this achievement, leads the pack with a remarkable 91 wins as a Toyota driver. The gap in victories between Busch and other drivers like Denny Hamlin, C. Bell, and John Hunter Nemechek is substantial.

During his remarkable 20-year career, Kyle Busch began his journey in 2004 and spent a significant 15-year stretch with Joe Gibbs Racing, piloting his Toyota starting in 2008.

There were speculations surrounding Martin Truex Jr.’s retirement at the end of the 2023 season. Joe Gibbs Racing appeared to have John Hunter Nemechek in mind as a possible replacement if Truex Jr. decided to retire. However, in the end, Truex Jr. chose to stay for another season with JGR, extending his tenure with the team.

In parallel, Jimmie Johnson’s Legacy MC faced a void in their #42 car after releasing Noah Gragson from his contract by 2024. As Legacy MC forges partnerships with Japanese manufacturers starting next year, Johnson needed a strong Toyota driver, and Nemechek has certainly proven himself as a contender.

With his rich career with JGR, it remained uncertain whether Nemechek would depart from the team. Ultimately, he signed a contract with Legacy MC to drive the #42 car starting the next season.
