After knocking it out of the park in the first round of the playoffs with Denny Hamlin‘s triumph, Joe Gibbs Racing is clearly not resting on its laurels. Having swept the leaderboard at the Bristol race track during Bass Pro Shops Night, JGR is over the moon to welcome back some familiar faces to the sponsor’s deck.

And it’s not just the big fish in the Cup series who are reaping the benefits; an Xfinity Series driver will also get a slice of the pie in this partnership that has stood the test of time for over thirty years.

After a few laps around the track with phenomenal performances, Joe Gibbs Racing is putting old wine in new bottles by rekindling their partnership in a fresh avatar. As the rubber meets the road in the NASCAR Cup Series AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 this Sunday, the spotlights will be on the Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) Toyota Camry TRDs.

Specifically, the No. 20 with Christopher Bell at the helm and the No. 54 steered by Ty Gibbs. Both will be racing under the banner of Dallas’ very own Interstate Batteries, a pillar in Joe Gibbs Racing history and a constant in the NASCAR Cup Series since ’92. For the first time in their 32-year dance with the tracks, Interstate Batteries will wave their flag for multiple racers in the same race. Throwing another log on the fire, the 2011 Daytona 500 champ, Trevor Bayne, will also wear the green and join the fray. Competing in Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race on the Texas circuit this Saturday, he officially rounds off the hat-trick weekend for Team Interstate Batteries.

The Lone Star State won’t be the end of the road for this dynamic duo. Following their Texas tango, Interstate Batteries will once again headline on Gibbs’s No. 54 at the Bank of America ROVAL 400 and then bid adieu to their 2023 ride with Bell in the Xfinity 500. Yet, it wasn’t the storied past or the renewed sponsorship that had the NASCAR loyalists’ engines revving. Rather, it was the sleek model, vibrant color, and captivating design of Joe Gibbs‘s own grandson’s car that had the fans buzzing and heads turning, making their hearts race a mile a minute.

The move towards the new sponsorship wasn’t just a shot in the dark; it had roots in the Texas Motor Speedway being the home turf for both Interstate Batteries and Joe Gibbs Racing. In the words of Norm Miller, Chairman Emeritus of the Interstate Batteries Board, “It?s always been a dream of mine to have multiple cars featuring the Interstate Batteries brand on the track at one time. To be able to do this, and at Texas, is very exciting for the entire company.”
