It is no secret that Joe Gibbs Racing has had a stunning start to the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. With Denny Hamlin winning his second race of the campaign at Richmond last weekend, Joe Gibbs and his team look immensely dominant. While that’s commendable, Brad Keselowski also has some plans to take some inspiration from JGR.

Keselowski hasn’t enjoyed a good run so far this season, as he sits 16th in the standings after the first seven races. While he has finished twice in the top five, he aspires to have the same speed as a JGR car.

With over 500 races to his name, Brad Keselowski is more than a seasoned campaigner in the Cup Series. While he knows what it takes to be a championship winner, he would have hoped for a better start to the 2024 season. Unfortunately for him, even Chris Buescher hasn’t looked as strong as the duo looked in the second half of the 2023 campaign.

On the other hand, Joe Gibbs and his team have looked very strong. JGR has not only won three out of the last four races but has all four drivers in the top six of the Cup Series standings. While it speaks volumes about their dominance this season, Keselowski couldn’t be more impressed with them.

As reported by NASCAR.com, the #6 driver recently said, “Right now, I think they’re dominant. They’ve won, is it four of the last five or something to that effect? And they’ve won them all honest. They haven’t really kind of stolen a race. They’ve had the speed throughout the whole race with one of their cars to just control it, and that’s where I want to be. I want to see our team in the spot where we have the speed and control races.”

Despite being a strong competitor, Brad Keselowski seeks inspiration from Joe Gibbs and his team. While he wishes to have that speed and control with the RFK Racing cars, he feels the team could really benefit from having a similar run as they had in the second half of last season.

He said, “I thought toward the middle, the end of last year, we had that a couple of times, and Chris [Buescher] was able to capitalize with a win, and I wasn’t able to capitalize with a win, but I was able to score a lot of points and make a strong playoff push. So that’s where we want to be. We’re not as strong right now as we were at that time, but I feel like it’s on the tip of our tongue and I want to go get that.”

It is interesting to see how Keselowski and his team go about their business. With Martinsville being one of his favorite tracks, can he end his winless drought on Sunday?

In his stellar career, Brad Keselowski has twice won at Martinsville Speedway. While he enjoys racing at the 0.526-mile track, it is worth noting that his last win in the Cup Series came at Talladega Superspeedway in April 2021. Back then, he drove the #2 for Team Penske, and since then, a lot has changed with him.

This year marks the third year that Keselowski entered the Cup Series as a driver and part-owner of RFK Racing. While his responsibilities have increased, his approach tends to remain the same. As reported by NASCAR.com, he said, “I just focus on the process, not the outcome.”

The #6 driver added, “I’m focused on doing all the right things, trying to help everybody I can and obviously execute on my end, and when I’m not driving the race car, being a servant leader to help everybody else build the best they can. Then you kind of let the results speak for themselves. So I’m just really process-focused, and in that light, you don’t get too high or too low.”

It is amazing how once Brad Keselowski had a streak of at least one win each season for 11 consecutive seasons, he is now struggling to register a win. Having said that, it doesn’t take time for things to turn around. While Joe Gibbs Racing drivers will be once again favorites at Martinsville, so will Keselowski, given his impressive record at the track. It would be special should he end his nearly three-year-old drought on Sunday.
