Erik Jones has had little to celebrate about all year. The Legacy Motor Club driver hasn’t exactly had the season he hoped for after securing just one top-five and two top-ten results. Apart from the odd result at the season-opening Daytona 500 or Talladega Superspeedway, his performances behind the wheel of the No. 43 Toyota has left much to be desired. So, it should come as no surprise that the arrival of his son was met with much fanfare and enthusiasm. The Michigan native has achieved a landmark milestone this year, one that will change his life forever.
In a social media post uploaded his by wife, Holly Jones, she wrote, “Thanksgiving looked a little different for us this year…David Wayne Jones was born 11/27 at 12:11 PM ❤️Labor didn’t go exactly according to plan, but mom and baby are both good and healthy! Cannot wait to get home for Oscar to meet his new little brother.” Responding to her tweet, Erik Jones went on to add, “A special Thanksgiving for us,” highlighting just how important of a moment it is for his family.
Known as one of the most charitable figures in NASCAR, Erik Jones was recently given the Comcast Community Champion Of The Year award. The 28-year-old is an advocate for early cancer screenings and detections and as the 10th recipient of the award, his foundation will receive $60,000 to help the community. Every week, the Legacy Motor Club driver has been filming a video where he’s reading a children’s book, and the initiative is called #ReadWithErik. The racing driver began his charity after his father passed away in 2016, while his mother is a breast cancer survivor.

Remembering his father after receiving the award, Jones said, “I mean, the first thing I could think of just as my dad would be proud, you know.” Now that the Michigan native is a father himself, he will have a greater sense of responsibility, not just towards himself but his family and his foundation as well. The No. 43 driver finished the season 28th in the driver standings, the worst finish in his full-time racing career. Will he be able to see a stark improvement in results next year? Time will tell.

As expected, it didn’t take long for NASCAR fans to join in the celebrations after Erik Jones announced the arrival of his newborn son. Having spent eight full-time seasons in the Cup Series, the racing driver has accumulated quite a fanbase, despite limited success on the racetrack. Looking at pictures of David Wayne Jones blissfully sleeping in his parents’ arms, one fan wrote, “Congratulations! He’s precious! 💙” Echoing that sentiment, another fan went on to write, “The best gift life can give you”, highlighting just how big a blessing having a child can be.
Acknowledging all the members of Erik Jones’ family, a fan wrote, “Congratulations Erik, Holly, Oscar, and Biscuit!! Sorry, I meant Dad, Mom, and family. ❤️” For those who don’t know, Oscar is the name of the racing driver’s German Shepherd while Biscuit is their rabbit, who was adopted by the family in 2021. Another fan complimented Erik and Holly Jones for their choice of name for their son, saying, “Congratulations guys. I love his name. He is adorable. Happy Thanksgiving.”

Fans weren’t the only ones to extend their good wishes towards the couple, as Legacy Motor Club owner and seven-time Cup Series winner Jimmie Johnson also said, “Congratulations!” With a few months to go before the 2025 season begins, Erik Jones will use this time to take some well-earned rest and spend time with family, before undertaking another Cup Series campaign. The racing driver has a point to prove after a disappointing 2024 and will hope to hit the ground running at Daytona International Speedway in February.
