Will spun while leaving the pit lane with his Chevrolet and drifted into Herta’s path in Turn 1 of the speedway. Even though Colton was able to avoid the Chevrolet, he soon spun in the short chute. However, apart from some minor damage, Colton’s Honda was brought to Gasoline Alley.
Marcus Ericsson who earlier avoided Helio’s crash once again succeeded in avoiding Colton’s sliding Honda. The combination of cold and windy temperatures combined with penetrant risked the situation. Penetrant is used to dry up the track and this here acted as the reason for the track being hard to drive at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
