Hendrick Motorsports legend Jimmie Johnson has excelled as a team co-owner in his maiden year with Legacy Motor Club (LMC). Despite facing setbacks with driver suspension, the former Cup Series champion hasn’t forgotten to show up for an important cause outside the grounds of NASCAR.

Kurt Busch had announced earlier this year that his “Window of Hope” program would run for the third consecutive time. In the initiative that aims to alleviate the struggles of those affected by breast cancer, Busch finds the 7-time champion as his latest supporter.

In 2023, Kurt Busch’s program has been underway in partnership with LMC driver, Erik Jones. Last year, the initiative raised over $100,000, and the same is expected in 2023. With the pink window nets from the cars that participated at the Roval a few days back ready to be auctioned, drivers have been signing them to add value. The latest among the list of those who have picked up the baton for Busch is Jimmie Johnson. The Legacy Motor Club president took to his Instagram handle to share the news of his deed.

He wrote through a story, “A great program for a great cause #windowofhope Today’s the last day to bid  on my signed pink window net to help raise money for the @erikjonesfoundation”

LMC #43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver Erik Jones‘s participation in the initiative came after Busch announced a partnership with the Erik Jones Foundation which had already been working towards battling cancer. The proceeds that are to come from auctioning the signed nets will benefit Project Pink of Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute. The project works towards the early detection and treatment of cancer for the financially weak.

“Window of Hope” became a reality after the 2004 Cup Series champion received a request from one of his fans in 2019. The driver had been mailed a letter from Mason Bradley, a young fan, that had an image of Busch’s car with a note that read, “Maybe you could do the window net pink.”

Bradley’s ask was an inspiration for the driver to support breast cancer survivors like the boy’s mother. Through the support of NASCAR, the program set into motion from there and raised more than $100,000 to benefit breast cancer research and treatment in 2022.

It is a well-known fact that Erik Jones’s foundation got involved in philanthropic work after his father fell prey to the disease back in 2016. His mother, Carol is also a breast cancer survivor. Announcing the involvement of the foundation with his work, Busch said earlier in the year, “I am grateful for the opportunity to bring in the Erik Jones Foundation to help continue to give it life for years to come. After learning more about what motivates Erik’s foundation’s cancer efforts, I felt a partnership with him was a natural evolution of the program.”
