Recently, returning NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson showed off his new overalls for the upcoming racing season. On that, former teammate Chase Elliott and ex-rival Clint Bowyer had some peculiar demands. As it turned out, they wanted him to show off the pants and shoes. The 7-time Cup Series champion obliged and asked whether the two of them were happy to see him comply.

Elliott was thrilled and admitted that he knew that Johnson would see his way of thinking. However, Bowyer had a different response and called the Legacy Motor Club driver a “sellout.” This could largely be a reference to Johnson’s sponsor, Carvana, who stuck with him during his brief IndyCar career. Apparently, Carvana has been struggling financially and recently reached an agreement with the shareholders to sell up to $4 billion worth of auto loans.

What lies ahead for Jimmie Johnson, Elliott, and Bowyer?
Chase Elliott is looking forward to another season of the Cup Series and another chance to snatch a second title. Meanwhile, Johnson does not have that kind of stress upon him. The winner of 83 Cup Series races will only be competing in a handful of races in the #84 car for the Legacy Motor Club (recently renamed from Petty GMS Motorsports). The first race on Johnson’s calendar is the iconic Daytona 500. It might prove tricky for him as he will have to try and qualify for the event first.
Even Bowyer will be getting some racing action in 2023 as he will be competing in the Superstar Racing Experience Series. As per reports, he is expected to run in three races, and will not be the only NASCAR representative. As it happens, he will be joining Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch, who are also making their SRX Series debuts.
