It’s official. Joe Graf Jr will now be competing in the entire 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule. After announcing that he would be participating in the majority of the races with RSS Racing, the 24-year-old driver announced his latest plans for the rest of the series.

On Wednesday, Graf revealed that he has secured a five-race deal with Joe Gibbs Racing. Hence, after piloting the #19 Toyota GR Supra at Autoway Club and Las Vegas, Graf will return as a JGR entry at the Richmond Raceway. As reported by Toby Christie.com, JGR and Graf’s five-race deal will take him to New Hampshire in July and Kansas Speedway in September.

Sharing the news about Graf’s announcement, Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass posted a tweet. However, it seemed that not everyone was happy with the news. Reposting Pockrass’ tweet, home-racing brand Couch Racer took a veiled dig at Joe Graf’s association with JGR.

And soon enough, Couch Racer’s dig garnered support. Moreover, the most interesting thing about it all was the number of likes received from NASCAR insiders. Bubba Wallace’s spotter Freddie Kraft, along with GMS Racing’s Rajah Caruth agreed with Couch Racer and affirmed it by liking the post.

NASCAR fans react to the news

The 2023 series will be the fourth season in Joe Graf Jr’s Xfinity series career. However, this would be the first time that the Xfinity driver will be partnering up with JGR. Excited about the opportunity, Graf said,

“Running five races with JGR is a fantastic opportunity for myself and for my marketing partners. I think I can learn a lot from JGR and showcase the skills I’ve been growing in the series in the past three years. 2023 is shaping up to be a great year and I’m pumped to get started with the No. 19 group.”

Unfortunately, many fans weren’t as excited as Graf. Pointing out how money is the most important thing in the JGR culture, some Twitter users agreed with Couch Racer’s dig at the news.
