Jesse Love is having the time of his life this fall. In 2020, he entered the record books by winning the ARCA Menards Series West and becoming the youngest winner ever in any NASCAR-sanctioned event at just 15 years old. This year, he put on a rare display of dominance in ARCA. Richard Childress Racing rewarded him with a full-time ride in the Xfinity Series, and ahead of his big debut, he spoke about his former boss.

The 18-year-old prodigy had a season to remember in 2023, winning the ARCA Menards Series championship with Venturini Motorsports. Love started 20 races in the competition, out of which he won 10 and finished in the top 5 in 17. It really was unparalleled dominance and the new RCR star credits Billy Venturini for his development.

Billy Venturini is a veteran in the world of motorsports. However, he is not the most lenient of bosses. The 47-year-old demands performance of the highest order, week in and week out, from his drivers. If someone does not match up to his expectations, the consequences are not very pleasant.

However, as far as Jesse Love is concerned, it has only helped him become a better driver. The 18-year-old believes that it was thanks to Billy Venturini’s leadership that he learned how to close out races and win championships. He also explained that the 47-year-old’s sometimes harsh attitude shows that he cares about his drivers and the team, and wants both to succeed.

“I feel like, Billy for me was like my true driver developer and that was a big proponent into me learning how to win this year and obviously learning how to lose as well. Obviously, sometimes people don’t agree with what he does or what he has to say but it’s always just because he cares and obviously gives a heck and wants people to succeed and obviously wants to go win races,” the newly crowned champion said.

Jesse Love’s admiration for Billy Venturini is not one-sided. The 47-year-old racing veteran believes that the 18-year-old rising star is someone special to him. The two spent a lot of years where Billy taught Jesse about racing at the highest level.

Mr Venturini revealed in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports that it was a 4-year process to get Jesse Love to the level he is at at the moment. It was a long journey through which the two developed a close bond with one another. Billy even said that there was a bit of parenting involved with the 2023 ARCA Menards Series champion.

“He [Love] comes from a great household, but he was a 15, 16-year-old kid, he moved out East, parents still lived out West. So that’s not an uncommon thing in our industry. So then you kind of almost got to help finish kind of raising these young men. And it was a very productive four years and Jesse’s someone that’s really special to me,” the 47-year-old added.
