It’s not an unpopular opinion to consider Jeff Gordon as one of the greatest drivers in the history of NASCAR. The former Cup Series driver currently works as the vice-chairman of Hendrick Motorsports and is furthering his legacy in the sport years after his retirement. His achievements in NASCAR are what dreams are made of and many people became a fan of the sport thanks to him.
The late 1990s was dominated by Jeff Gordon. He was the one who stopped Dale Earnhardt from winning a record eighth Cup Series championship. The 52-year-old went on to win 4 Cup Series championships in his career and was the perfect poster boy who helped NASCAR grow quite a lot. Years after his retirement, Gordon is still contributing to the team where he spent his entire Cup Series career.

Jeff Gordon’s career has way too many accolades to list. He won the Daytona 500 and Coca-Cola 600 three times each. He also won the Brickyard 400 at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway a whopping five times. Throughout his Cup Series career, the 52-year-old took part in 805 races and won 93. He finished in the top 10 in more than half of those races.
Despite being one of the most accomplished motorsports athletes of all time, Jeff Gordon is as humble as they come. This was made evident in an interview that he did with Forbes almost 10 years ago, in 2014.
“If everyone drove as much as I do, they’d drive as well as I do, too,” he had said at the time. “I’ve always just thought my car was really good and I’m just doing my part. I’ve been with good teams, good cars, and I’ve done what I needed to help to win.”
He may be humble on the outside but the 52-year-old was a beast whenever he got behind the wheel in the Cup Series. Jeff Gordon inspired an entire generation of people and fans, a lot of whom are Cup Series drivers today.
