Kyle Larson’s dominant NASCAR season is the first thing that jumps to mind when talking about the driver. It’s only natural, after multiple wins, with the most recent one coming after leading the race for 462 laps. But of course, there will be a time when he calls it quits. There’s only so long he can focus on the hectic schedule of a race car driver, training and traveling to every race year after year. Former Hendrick legend Gordon has a very clear idea of what he sees Larson doing after he gets out of the NASCAR gig.

Answering questions for Hendrick Motorsport, Jeff Gordon was asked about who he sees taking up the van lifestyle, a way of life becoming popular around the world. Without hesitation, Gordon picked “California kid” Kyle Larson. While Gordon does not have a reason for his choice, Larson taking up the van life may be something we see in the future, all thanks to an investment ‘Yung Money’ made a few years ago.

No, it’s not his $5.6 million mansion in Arizona. In the same year as his mansion purchase, Kyle Larson and his wife Katelyn bought a $2 million motorhome, the Newell Coach. It would be an understatement to simply call it a van he can live out of. The Newell Coach is a luxury home that can accommodate a complete family. It can turn into the perfect little place to take his wife, Katelyn, and their three children on a road trip in and around Arizona.

Have an interesting take?

After all, Larson admitted to loving life in Arizona and named it as the place where he could settle after retirement. More importantly, it gives him valuable time to spend with his kids, something he isn’t able to do as much with the NASCAR season in full swing. After all, being able to spend time with his family away from the chaos of the city is something he enjoys particularly. He says, “Life is good everywhere, but you just have access to a lot more. Great restaurants, shopping, golf, hiking, all of that stuff. In North Carolina, if you want to go hiking, you drive like 45 minutes somewhere. There’s nice restaurants everywhere, but there’s less. I just have way more time in Arizona.”

Is this the future Kyle Larson sees after his NASCAR retirement, or does he have something else planned?

Kyle Larson is just 31 and at the peak of his career. So imagining him retiring is something most NASCAR fans don’t want to do. However, after 11 years of racing, it is certainly a thought that has crossed most fans’ minds. For Kyle Larson, the plan is clear. He intends to retire earlier than most NASCAR racers do, somewhere around the age of 40. Calling it quits from NASCAR doesn’t mean he will exit racing permanently. After all, racing is in his blood.

According to Larson’s plans, he wishes to race for another 8 years at least, since it would set him up financially to live comfortably when retired. Once he does so, he intends to go back to his favorite format: dirt racing. His dirt-racing record needs no introduction, with the prolific 2021 season being known for the plethora of dirt races he won during the season. Moreover, Larson looks to broaden his racing horizons. He says, “I’m going into my 11th season in the Cup Series, so I’ve already been in it for a while. In my eyes, if I can race another seven or eight years, I can earn a lot of money, I can set myself up really well, and I can go still be in my prime, hopefully, and go compete for premier dirt series championships.”

Having raced in the Indy 500 earlier this year, an entry into a different form of motorsport is not completely out of the picture. He remains a driver who can extend the peak of his career by several years. At the moment, if Kyle Larson wishes to embrace the van lifestyle, it will have to be during the off-season, perhaps as a vacation of sorts with his family. The commitment to racing full-time in NASCAR is a job that takes true dedication. Traveling in the Newell Coach will certainly be a change of pace for Larson, but it will be no challenge for him.
