Halloween is a hugely popular national holiday in the United States. After all, who would want to miss out on a chance to head out into the neighbourhood to hunt for candy. The best part is that they get to wear fancy costumes, and it’s not even for a Comic Con. Naturally, the NASCAR community does not want to miss out on ringing in the spooky holiday. Back in 2011, a number of NASCAR drivers spoke about their ideal Halloween costumes, and one of them was Jeff Gordon.
He said, “I was a one-night stand, one year. I was a night stand, like a lamp shade on my head. Yes, it was my wife. She left a note on the night stand. Said she had a good time”. Naturally, his double entendre-filled response coaxed plenty of guffaws from the media personnel gathered.

How did Jeff Gordon perform in that weekend’s race
At the time, the Hendrick Motorsports legend was at Martinsville for the Cup Series race. In the end, he managed to finish in 3rd place, behind Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards. As for his championship aspirations, he failed to reach the Championship 4, and had to settle for a disappointing 8th place.

On the bright side, Jeff Gordon did manage to rack up three wins during the season. The first of those came at the Phoenix Raceway, which was the second race of the season. Next on the hit list was Pocono, followed by a win at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Since then, he managed to rack up eight more career wins in the NASCAR Cup Series.

That brought his grand total to an impressive 93 career Cup Series wins. Gordon’s last win came in 2015 at the Martinsville Speedway, before he retired at the end of the year. He did come back as an injury replacement for Dale Earnhardt Jr, but that’s another story. Coincidentally, his last career Cup race was at the Martinsville Raceway, where he finished in an impressive 6th place.
