Amidst the grim situation around the Next Gen car in NASCAR between the drivers and fans, you’d think the mood will light up with the Le Mans project coming up next year. However, that isn’t the case because the fans aren’t exactly ‘OK’ with the rumored lineup which excludes Hendrick duo, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.
According to journalist Jenna Fryer, the lineup in the subject is set to have two of the greatest ever drivers in NASCAR history, along with a stock car-endurance hybrid trump card.
“Word on the street at Petit Le Mans is the #NASCAR Le Mans car will be a lineup of Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Mike Rockenfeller,” she wrote.

Now, this was something that the fans didn’t quite approve of. Some argued that the lineup has more to do with brand power than actual talent, while some wondered why there was no Kyle Larson or Chase Elliott in the bracket.
But in general, the mood wasn’t quite jovial despite the 11 Cup championships that Gordon and Johnson bring.
Why Jimmie? He's not that good outside of nascar.

Rather see more Le Mans experienced drivers. Going for names over talent. With the exception of MR

I would say Gordon’s position in HMS would be beneficial to them more. Shouldn’t the drivers be 100% impartial to all nascar teams

What did Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson think of racing in Le Mans?
In a recent interview, Chase Elliott opened up on his thoughts on competing in the crown jewel of endurance racing, and his thoughts weren’t exactly thrilling, for him personally.
“There’s no competition in the class,” Elliott said about the key reason for him not being interested. “I want to go and compete. And that’s the part that I enjoy, seeing where you stack up against other competitors and where I can do better and just kind of challenging myself and pushing myself.”
On the other hand, Kyle Larson was on the different side of the tracks.
The defending Cup Series champion has admitted his willingness to take part in the Le Mans project on many occasions. When asked whether he’d be interested in running the race, Larson said, “I would, yes.”
