Kyle Busch clearly seems to be keen to build up his own dynasty in the NASCAR arena. These NASCAR dynasties include the Earnhardts and the Pettys, who have either been successful or contributed to the sport. Truthfully, Busch can make a case, because his brother Kurt is a champion, and he is a 2-time champion. Now, he is training his son Brexton to be the next star to carry forward the Busch name.
Although Busch has sold off the Kyle Busch Motorsports to Spire Motorsports, the real KBM is still up and running. At 39, the RCR star driver understands that he can count his years at the top level on one hand and this is why he is preparing his son Brexton to take up the charge. After winning the Millbridge Speedway championship last year, Rowdy Jr. snagged a golden driller win at the Tulsa Shootout. The 9-year-old certainly seems mature beyond his age when it comes to progressing on the racetrack. But, despite the wins and silverware where Busch’s mentorship hits a brick wall.
Although his personality and stature as a successful race car driver is something that Brexton respects, like any young driver he has his bad days. And this is where Samantha Busch has to play the role of the referee between father-son arguing over on-track troubles.

Kyle Busch isn’t a fan of Brexton complaining about the racing equipment
As good as Brexton is on the racetrack, he does have some problems with equipment from time to time. Not because there are issues with it, but rather it’s the racer behind the wheel that’s slacking. Busch who has seen it all in his racing career knows Brexton gets the top-of-the-line race equipment for him to excel. But, he doesn’t like it when he pins the blame on the machine after a disappointing result.
Busch told Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, “There are times where I want to get on him about something. I’ll tell him and he’s like, ‘I’m trying, dad! I’m doing that! The car’s terrible! It stinks! It’s not fast enough.’ I’m like, ‘Hold on a second. You got the best, money can buy. Sometimes its not our problem, it’s your problem. You’ve got to figure it out.’ Then he gets a little mad when you tell him he didn’t do his job. Mom is kind of the intermediary, where she helps kind of smooth things over and we get to a common ground.”
Well, this issue isn’t just restricted to Brexton. The young drivers in particular have a hard time understanding the craft of the sport and the discipline that goes into it. Rowdy has found himself in a situation where parents of other kids would ask him why Brexton listens to him. In response, Busch stated, “I’m like, I don’t know you; he just does. Like the accolades speak for themselves, I think he respects that.”
It’s not always rainbows and sunshine with Brexton as there are races where he struggles. But, it looks like Kyle Busch has an ace up his sleeves that he uses to motivate his 9-year-old son. “You know I tell him all the time, I’m like you got the Busch blood man, like you’re better than the rest of the guys, you’re good, you’re golden, you don’t need to worry about anything else. Just take that and run with it, you know. He’s bought into that a little bit.” Busch said this in an interview with MAVTV.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Kyle Busch's legacy continue through Brexton, or will the pressure be too much for the young racer?
Have an interesting take?

While Brexton’s racing career is coming along well, Rowdy isn’t quite content with where he’s stuck at RCR. Mind you he was winless the entirety of 2024, this was the first time such a thing happened. With the rising stars like William Byron and Christopher Bell scripting their stories, Busch is feeling left out.

Age isn’t a factor that will limit Busch’s ambition for more NASCAR glory
Kyle Busch’s struggles with the Next Gen car have been well documented. Apart from the first year in 2023 where he scored three wins, he’s been inconsistent, unable to compete for wins and is starting to fall off in the mid-pack driver region. The start of 2025 has been promising with a good run at Daytona being wiped out by the big one and he was almost at the cusp of winning at COTA.
At 39, Busch understands he’s got a limited amount of time to make a lasting impact. Or add more chapters of success to his storied NASCAR career. It’s good for him to see the likes of Byron and Bell who graduated from KBM now competing for the championship at the Cup level. But, at the same time, he’s not willing to concede to the rising talents of the sport, just yet.

“The Williams and the Christophers and them being as good as they are, as strong as they are, championship 4 contenders each and every year, makes you feel a little bit a sense of pride. But honestly, it makes you a little bit of that jealousy factor. Man I wanna be there, I want to be racing with those guys, challenging with those guys. Being in those final four that I remember being a part of five years in a row. I would love and want to get back to that point.” Busch explained.
There are positives with how RCR has started off this year with Busch. Given that there are going to be plenty of opportunities this year, the No. 8 team should feel confident about getting back in the victory lane.
