At the Darlington Raceway, there was a controversy involving Joey Logano and William Byron. As it turned out, the Hendrick Motorsports driver was leading when Logano came tanking behind him and clipped him. Owing to the rear love-tap from the Penske car, Byron got unsettled and lost the lead. Naturally, many fans did not appreciate the stunt and made their displeasure known.

Later on in pit road, Byron could hear the boos aimed at race winner Joey Logano. However, he was unsympathetic, as he felt that the #22 Team Penske driver deserved it. He quipped, “It’s obvious”, before continuing his post-race interview. The #24 driver noted that both of them were really close together at Turn 2. In the process, he was able to get Logano to run a little tight and he was right against the wall.
What can William Byron do now after this loss?
At the moment, all that he could do was rue his missed opportunity. However, he cannot afford to dwell on his loss for too long, as he has to move on and focus on the next race. This weekend, the paddock heads to the Kansas Speedway as the #24 driver hunts for his third win of the season. So far in this campaign, the Hendrick Motorsports drivers have been running riot, with Byron emerging as one of the strongest.

Admittedly, there are still 14 races before the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series regular-season wraps up. The driver to beat is championship leader Chase Elliott, and William Byron is right on his tail in the points standings. All that he needs to do is outscore Elliott and all of his other rivals. After all, winning the regular season crown would be a nice bonus to go with a maiden Cup Series title.
