Do you know what was common between Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, and Richard Petty? All of them were not just NASCAR’s all-time greatest drivers, but also proven winners! Because what’s the point of racing if it’s not to win, right? Fans live and breathe the competition, adrenaline, grudges, personalities, legends, sounds, and smells. The list goes on. But at the end of the day, history is written by the victors.
NASCAR is America’s motorsport. It’s extremely competitive, racing on a combination of ovals, superspeedways, and roadcourses. All for one single objective: to win. As part-time Kaulig Racing driver Ty Dillon explained on social media.
The show goes on

“They only turn left”. “They drive around in circles for hours”. “Why don’t you watch Formula 1 instead?” Yes, you’ve probably heard these statements before, and yes, it does get tiresome! Imagine a stock car driving at 185 mph, with the immense G-forces throwing you far back into your seat as you try to turn the steering wheel. Now think of doing that on a track full of cars, merely a few feet around you. If that’s not scary and exhilarating, I don’t know what is!
NASCAR Cup Series races are the equivalent of marathons, but despite the duration, every lap has the potential to be a game-changer. A scenario that every fan dreams of is when several cars are competing for victory in the final lap. A photo finish is an exciting prospect in NASCAR, but not every race ends that way. The unpredictability of stock cars, the way they slide around, with poor brakes and lack of stability around corners makes the sport so much more entertaining and ensures that victories involve a tremendous amount of skill.
In an Instagram video uploaded by NASCAR, Ty Dillon said, “As drivers, we should see ourselves as entertainers. That’s what we are here to do. We’re here to put on a show. We’re here to excite the fans and that’s what makes this whole sport go round and what makes it awesome. We’re such a great fan-driven sport. It kind of goes back to the saying ‘Nobody really remembers who finished second’, right? Yes, we can have a great race but if the finish isn’t there, it’s not the same.”

But even NASCAR fans seem taken by the driver’s words with some even praising him.

It’s rare to see NASCAR fans cheering for Ty Dillon. The 32-year-old has been called a product of nepotism in the past because he is Richard Childress’ grandson. Some have even said that he doesn’t deserve a part-time role in Kaulig Racing. However, fans were praising Ty Dillon’s bold claim on social media this time around, saying “Ty “The Legend” Dillon”, “Wooooooo TY DILLON” and comparing him to his brother Austin Dillon, saying, “Ty the better of the 2 Dillons”.

However, some fans were less than impressed by his views, presumably believing that NASCAR is more than just who crosses the finish line first. One fan said, “Damn what a bad take on what racing is supposed to be” while another fan felt that NASCAR’s many rules are taking away the unpredictability of races. The fan said, “Yeah we do know what we’re going to get because every race is the same because there is a rule for every part of nascar!!!”
