The NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen concluded with Ty Gibbs winning. Needless to say, he was over the moon when he bested the likes of Austin Cindric and AJ Allmendinger to cross the checkered flag in first place. For a driver who has been racing part-time in the series, Gibbs has been in the form of his life.
Recently, the 18-year-old spoke about what it felt like to win. He said, “Austin and AJ, they are probably two of the baddest dudes to ever come through the NASCAR Series ranks. They are phenomenal on road courses, and to be able to beat them is super cool and it’s just awesome.”
The youngster also acknowledged the fans and thanked them for their dedication. He knew that the past year and a half has been difficult for the fans due to the pandemic. There were a lot of occasions where races were held in front of empty stands or canceled outright. So, seeing them return has been a great boost for the drivers.

Of course, now that he has made an impression in the Xfinity Series, it won’t be long before the opportunity for a full-time drive comes knocking. Some have suggested that he could take the seat vacated by Harrison Burton, who is himself graduating to the Cup Series in the Wood Brothers Racing team.
Meanwhile, Austin Cindric will also graduate to the Cup Series, though he will take Brad Keselowski’s vacated Penske seat. Without a doubt, Ty Gibbs is a hugely talented driver and finished in the top 5 in every race bar two. Among them, he has amassed three wins from 10 races.

Naturally, many fans will be eager to see how well he does in a full season. If he is able to keep up this form, he could very well be a favorite for the 2022 Xfinity Series title. Of course, he will still have to contend with the likes of Allmendinger, Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric and many more.
