When Chase Elliott won the Cup Series race at COTA, he helped Hendrick Motorsports achieve an incredible feat. As it turned out, the organization has tied with Richard Petty Enterprises for the most Cup wins in NASCAR. Reports say that the two NASCAR franchises have notched up a record 268 Cup Series race wins.
In light of that, Rick Hendrick spoke about tying with The King himself. He said, “Richard is a good friend of mine. He is The King and nobody’s done as much for the sport as Richard Petty and the Petty family. It’s just an honor for me to be even mentioned in the same sentence as Richard. He’s just given his life to the sport. Any time there’s a goal or record out there, you wanna beat it if you can.”

Theoretically, the outfit can definitely break Richard Petty Enterprises’ record. It also helps that the season is long and offers plenty of chances for the Hendrick Motorsports quartet. Already, all four drivers have picked up at least one win this season. With his triumph at the Circuit of The Americas, defending champion, Chase Elliott was the last one.
Now, the Cup Series drivers will be heading to the Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. This is a track where many Hendrick Motorsports drivers have won in the past. However, the 2021 season has been supremely unpredictable, with multiple different race winners.
