His victory at his home state track was very special to Sam Mayer. During a post-race interview, he expressed how important it was for him to win the race. It looked like winning this race had flipped that switch in him and he is all set to win more races in the days to come.
Just moments after the race, the #1 driver had said that he knew if he could win this race, he could win everywhere. A reporter referred to that and asked Mayer what made him so confident.
Mayer said, “I don’t know, I think it’s just a good omen. At one point halfway through the race I was like man, If I can really do this with the Cup drivers in the field or whatever, even though we’re so far away from Richmond if we can do this, put a full race together today, I’d be overcoming a lot”
He then gave a shout-out to his teammates for doing so well. The Chevrolet sensation knew if he could ace this race with what he called “maybe not the best car in the field but definitely a good car”, he would be very proud. He did not expect it to happen for sure, but it did. And everyone at JR Motorsports is happy about it.
However, things ended a bit differently for him. Although the fans are showering him with praise, many cannot stop joking about what Mayer did after he had won the race.

Sam was overwhelmed with emotions after the win. He might have tried to replicate one of those Fast and Furious burnout moves after he won. But not everyone can to it that well. Hence, he failed miserably and damaged the car. The Motorsports enthusiasts did not miss the chance to tease him, saying: “If you’re gonna get damage, this is the best possible time for it to happen.” Everyone is relieved that it happened after the win.
