Kyle Larson has just booked his seat in the Cup Series Championship 4. To achieve this, he won the race at the Texas Motor Speedway. Now, the Hendrick Motorsports team will be hoping that he plays the team game and gets Chase Elliott into the Final 4. However, some believe that the defending champion may have a hard time this year.
Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass said, “He is eight points behind Kyle Busch, nine points behind Denny Hamlin. 17 points behind Ryan Blaney. Can he catch any of them? He was 5th at Kansas earlier this year, 2nd at Martinsville. Those stats say ‘Yes he can’, but is he running well enough? I was hoping to see more out of him at Texas. Granted, they had the tyre issues, but they were able to rally. However, we never really got to see just how good Chase Elliott is right now. I think it’s going to be tough.”
What else did he say about Chase Elliott?

He was also glad that the #9 driver is willing to put aside his squabble with Kevin Harvick. Both Elliott and crew chief Alan Gustafson want to move on, as they have more important things to focus on. At Texas, Chase Elliott desperately needed to push and keep things clean.
A points deduction would be devastating, but now the team will be hoping to eke out a bit more performance. It is worth mentioning, on a worrying note, that Chase Elliott has yet to reach Victory Lane in an oval. Whether he will win in the coming races is anybody’s guess. However, he will definitely try his best to correct that oversight and join his teammate.
Admittedly, he will not have an easy time, as the likes of the Joe Gibbs and Penske trios will want to stop him. There is also a small chance that Kyle Larson could play the team game and try and help Chase Elliott reach the Championship 4.
