The legend Dale Earnhardt Jr gives the NASCAR world a daily dose of entertainment through his podcasts on various social media platforms. In a recent podcast, he was taken by surprise by a few questions his fans asked. The question was not about becoming a race driver, but something else.

Dale Jr on his Dirty Mo Media channel on YouTube interacted with fans on a live stream. One very interesting question was, “I’m a mechanic and long wanted to work for a NASCAR team. How would you go about doing that?”

With all the passion in his voice, Dale Jr. said, “walk up to the door of this building and turn in your resume. So, it’s as simple as that.” In Jr’s view, in today’s world where social media plays such a big role, it is not very difficult to find any kind of job. He said, “You can literally find job opportunities on Twitter.”

He had the idea to utilize a platform like Twitter to reach out to people if they had any vacancies in the past when work was not promoted online. While his idea was brilliant, everyone around thought it was a dumb idea. Back then, Dale Jr’s idea was rejected and not considered the right avenue to promote.

It’s 2023, and social media and the world of the internet have grown massively. The Cup Series champion said, “Well now there’s so much desperation to get people you can’t.” He shared that just two years ago, people would be coming in and handing out resumes or asking for a job or presenting what they can do. But now it’s all over social media. He said, “Now you got people, big organizations, Joe Gibbs Racing going on Twitter, I need a road mechanic, I need a tire guy, a tire specialist, somebody please apply for this job.” Dale Jr. went on to express that this would probably be the case in every industry now.

Jr said that there are many positions that they would love to fill in. Earlier, they would have many people around to get into the sport. Though they didn’t know how to get in or might need a lot of grooming. He said, “I mean there we are literally sitting right next to the NASCAR Technical Institute that to my knowledge is full of people that want to get in our industry.” Jr mentioned that they would have so many people applying for different jobs before, but now it is completely different. Stating the reason as, “Everybody’s kind of when they get out of the sport they don’t come back. They go back home to wherever they’re from, they get into the family business or they start a new business, so unrelated to racing.”
