The fans of NASCAR have already braced themselves for Kevin Harvick’s retirement from professional racing. But with the legend about to leave Stewart-Haas Racing, the team has to immediately come up with major alternatives, as to who shall take the vacant seat left by Harvick. But before they reach a conclusion and choose the next successor for the No.4 Ford Mustang, it seems there have been major developments in the SHR stable.

If the revelation of Bob Pockrass is to be taken into account, Stewart-Haas Racing is in for a major rejig. But the developments do not cater to Kevin Harvick’s departure, but rather Chase Briscoe and Aric Almirola.

Tony Stewart’s co-owned Stewart-Haas Racing team is yet to overcome the L-3 penalty that is thrashed upon the No.14 team, due to the use of counterfeit parts in their car. This counterfeit product was used in Chase Briscoe’s Ford, during Coke 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. As a result of which the driver was penalized with 125 driver points and also docked off 25-playoff points.

Moreover, in order to create strong precedence over other teams, Briscoe’s crew chief, John Klausmeier, has been suspended for six Cup races along with a fine of $250,000. As a replacement for Klausmeier, Mike Bugarewicz took the post of Briscoe’s crew chief. Nevertheless, in lieu of the recent chain of events, it seems that the team is ready to make major personnel change to the team.

The news was spilled by Bob Pockrass, the veteran NASCAR journalist from FOX on his Twitter profile. He wrote. “In more SHR news: Richard Boswell listed on the roster as crew chief for Chase Briscoe on Cup side. … Listed as replacing Boswell as crew chief for Riley Herbst in Xfinity is Almirola’s Cup engineer, Devin Restivo. … An official announcement is expected tomorrow on these changes.”

If the news of the developments by Bob Pockrass is taken into account, then NASCAR fans will be able to witness once again the return of an invincible duo. The partnership between Chase Briscoe and Richard Boswell dominated the tracks of the Xfinity series back in 2019. Boswell had served as the crew chief of Briscoe’s No 98 Ford Mustang for all 33 races. They went on to win at Iowa Speedway and also secured two pole positions.

They delivered 13- top-five and 26-top ten results, making Briscoe eligible for the Rookie of the Year award. The same dominance continued in the 2020 season. But in 2021, Briscoe graduated to the Cup Series grid, while Boswell stayed back in the Xfinity Series as the crew chief of Riley Herbst.

If the news turns out to be true, fans are ready to brace themselves for another stellar performance from the duo owing to their past performance results. With the tweet going public, fans failed to contain their excitement about the possible partnership. On Reddit, many wrote;

It’s about damn time. They never should have been split up in the first place. As much as I love how much better Herbst has gotten with Richard on his box, Chase’s ceiling is much higher than Riley’s will ever be, and they have a track record of success together. This could be the kick in the pants the 14 team needs.”

“Thank you, Tony!!!!!! They honestly should have just been kept together for the move to Cup after their stellar 2020 run in Xfinity, its not like JK had some impressive Cup resume or something that warranted not giving Richard a chance in Cup with their chemistry already developed, but I digress.Briscoe/Boswell’s past success aside, what makes me even more excited for this is what Boz was able to do with getting Herbst turned around. Let’s hopefully snag a win before the season’s end and build things up for 2024!!”

“Boswell and Briscoe together is how it should’ve been when Briscoe made the move to the 14. About damn time.”

While on Twitter, netizens commented, “It’s about time that Richard Boswell got upped to the cup level. He has everything it takes to be a winning cup crew chief.”

“I never understood why they split Boswell and Briscoe up. Won 8 times together in 2020.”
