“Had to happen soon enough. Just got my a** kicked.” These were Kyle Busch‘s words when he expressed displeasure after a frustrating run at his A-class stint at Tulsa Shootout in December 2021. After finishing P7 despite starting at P5, Busch got the challenging taste of the heat race, which didn’t seem to excite him much.

However, it’s his prodigious son, Brexton Busch, this time, who has unfurled his experience about the Tulsa Shootout. But unlike his dad’s dismaying words, Brexton seems to have an entirely contrasting view of the heat race as he aptly put it forth.

It’s not the first time the 8-year-old Brexton tried his skills at the Tulsa Expo Raceway, so he’s not new to it. During his first shot in 2021, Brexton won the C-Main race and made an astonishing comeback from P13 to P4 in the B-Main race. Despite securing several titles in the A-Main races in 2022, little Busch couldn’t clinch the title at Tulsa as he settled for P4 in the B-Main race, once again.

Pumped up from his recent title at the 2023 Millbridge Speedway dirt track racing in North Carolina, Brexton eyeing the P1 spot on the Tulsa Shootout commencing 26th December is a no-brainer.

However, it seems like Brexton’s excitement about the Tulsa Shootout is not because of his dominant performances but because of something no one would’ve possibly guessed. Amid the approaching 2023 Tulsa Shootout, Brexton unveiled the real reason behind his excitement about the approacging race and said, “Best weekend ever. The Tulsa shootout is the best weekend ever, it’s always going to be the best weekend because it’s a golden driller.”

The reporter then asked Brexton what it’s like to have one of those for himself and asked, “What would it mean to win one of those things?”

Brexton’s fond memories with the golden driller were quite evident from his reply when he instantly said, “A lot to me, because I always stand on the big one’s foot, every time.”

The reporter exclaimed, “Yeah! That thing is impressive,” following which Brexton nodded, “Really really impressive!”

According to Tulsa’s rules, only a winner of the Tulsa Shootout or Chili Bowl is eligible to use Golden Driller’s image. And Brexton’s year-long connection with the statue makes it more appealing for him to ace the race. After all, flaunting a win never goes out to style and especially if the win guarantees a picture with a towering statue!
