Denny Hamlin, who initially showed confidence in Daniel Suarez’s qualification for the playoffs, recently reversed his stance and criticized Ross Chastain’s team for their recent lack of performance. Speaking on his podcast, Hamlin stated that Suarez’s chances of making it to the playoffs were now a “dead bet.” He expressed concerns over the declining performance of the Trackhouse team, which has lost the pace it demonstrated at the start of the season.

Talking about the shift in the playoff standings after the race at Richmond, Jared Allen said, “We might not have too much moving on the track, but we have some movement in the standings. Bubba on the playoff cutline now +54 after yesterday, McDowell +18, he’s in 16th, Ty Gibbs in 17th, -18, followed by AJ Allmendinger -22, Suarez – 34, and Chase Elliott -40.”

To this, the JGR driver responded with, “Okay, Let me update this: My Suarez pick to make the final, the playoffs, that’s dead. It’s a dead bet. They’re heading in the wrong direction. I haven’t really seen the speed of the Trackhouse cars that we saw early in the year.”

Suarez currently sits 19th in the playoff standings, just 34 points below the current cutoff mark. He emphasized, ahead of the race at Michigan, that there is no need to panic. Speaking about the playoff situation, Daniel was asked whether there is panic in the team ahead of Michigan.

“No, there is a lot of racing left,” Suarez responded. “I told my guys, all of us need to relax and have fun. That’s when we perform our best. We have some really good tracks coming up for us. Trackhouse Racing has a great road course program, and we have run really well at Daytona and Michigan.”

He believed that the upcoming tracks of Indianapolis, Watkins Glen, and Daytona are where he traditionally runs well and that they offer opportunities to secure his second consecutive playoff appearance.

He continued as he recalled last year’s race, “I really thought Ross and I had great cars that day. That wreck couldn’t come at a worse time. It cost both Ross and me a shot at victory. My guys gave me a great Worldwide Express Chevrolet there last year, and I hope we are fast on Sunday.”
