The NASCAR Cup Series is still in the middle of the 2021 season, but many are focusing on 2022. To be more specific, many drivers are busy wondering where they will be driving next year. One of them is Ross Chastain, who currently races for Chip Ganassi Racing alongside Kurt Busch.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Chastain revealed that CGR held a team option on him. According to him, the team would only enact it if the situation favors them.
Initially, things were going well for the 28-year-old. As it turns out, he is regarded as one of the best long-run passers in the Cup Series.

What changed for Ross Chastain?
“I tried to table that (aggression) and put it aside to start this year, but I still, in those instinctive moments of to block or not, or to push a guy or not, or to let him go, I was still making those same moves and I didn’t realize it,” Chastain said.
“A few guys sat me down. Kurt (Busch), my teammate, and Joey Logano, we had a good conversation after a race, and it was kind of eye-opening.”
However, CGR flung a spanner in the works when they sold a charter to Trackhouse Racing. Admittedly, Chastain is an intriguing driver, yet he has been left in the lurch.

Without a doubt, he will be desperate to find a new seat elsewhere. On the other hand, there are many reports suggesting that Kurt Busch could leave CGR.
The question is, would Chip Ganassi Racing move him there or recruit someone else? This season, Chastain has turned in fairly decent performances, even grabbing 2nd at Nashville.

He also sits in 18th place in the championship, just two away from a Playoff spot. Truthfully speaking, he has a chance to qualify, as there are four races left in the regular season.
